(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem will be getting a new Community Based Outpatient Clinic as part of the Portland VA Medical Centers ongoing effort to improve access and care for Veterans. "This is an incredible, first class facility we at the Portland VA are proud to present to our Veterans and the public," said Joanne M. Krumberger, Director of PVAMC. "I know our Salem area Veterans will be happy with the beautiful design, expanded size, and additional services provided there. We are honored to serve our Veterans and this new clinic is the perfect tool to allow our staff to provide the best care possible." The new 26,000 square foot facility is located at 1750 McGilchrist Street SE, Suite 130, and currently serves approximately 9,000 Veterans. At two and a half times the size of the previous clinic located on Oak Street SE, the new facility will grow in staff by approximately 30 and available services including primary care, mental health, physical therapy, laboratory services, Tele-health, enrollment, optometry, ophthalmology, podiatry, and plastic surgery. In 2015, PVAMC expects to include dermatology, and orthopedic services for Veterans. The Salem CBOC is the second new clinic PVAMC has opened this month; on June 20, the Lincoln City Clinic opened for services for Veterans one day per week every Friday. A formal grand opening ceremony is scheduled for the Salem CBOC later this summer. The new phone number is 971-304-2200.
