(WOODBURN, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police troopers are still on scene of Thursday evening's two vehicle head-on crash that occurred on Highway 211 about a mile east of Woodburn. Five people were transported to area hospitals with various injuries. Names will be released Friday. According to Sergeant Tim Plummer, preliminary information indicates, at approximately 6:15 p.m., a Chevrolet pickup driven by an adult male with four other adult-age passengers was traveling westbound on Highway 211 near milepost 1 when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound 1993 Buick four-door driven by an adult male. Both vehicles to rest on an embankment along the shoulder and some of the occupants were entrapped. Firefighters from Woodburn Fire District and Molalla Rural Fire Protection District responded to the scene for extrication. A passenger in the pickup was transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious injuries. Three other pickup passengers and the Buick's driver were transported by ground ambulance to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The pickup's driver was using safety restraints and wasn't injured. His four passengers were not using safety restraints. OSP troopers from the Salem Area Command office and an OSP collision reconstructionist are continuing the investigation. In addition to fire personnel, OSP was assisted at the scene by Woodburn Police Department and ODOT. The highway was initially closed but is now open to one lane of travel.
