(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Search for Seven-year-old Kyron Horman continues this afternoon with a large compliment of Local, State, and Federal law enforcement officials along with search and rescue crews from all over the region. At 4:00 p.m. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Captain Jason Gates gave a press briefing in which he talked about the ongoing investigation. Captain Gates announced that the family of Kyron Horman will have a statement ready to release tomorrow (Wednesday). He asked that the media continue to respect the privacy of the family. He said that investigators are with the family 24 hours a day and are keeping them apprised of the progress made by personnel involved in bringing Kyron home. Captain Gates explained why an Amber Alert has not been issued in this case. He told reporters that an Amber alert is only issued in cases where a known suspect has taken a child or some other lead has been developed that would give the public something to look for, such as a vehicle license plate. Amber alert is not the correct tool for this case. But that can change if a lead is developed. Captain Gates said he was very happy with the cooperation between the agencies that he has seen. He said everyone is coming together for the soul purpose of bringing Kyron home. He said the FBI is bringing in a resource tomorrow that will expand the capability of the command center and allow for the additional law enforcement personnel that are continuing to arrive. The next briefing will be tomorrow at 12:00 pm. Any significant developments will be reported immediately. ===================================================== News release: Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Articles for June 7, 2010 | Articles for June 8, 2010 | Articles for June 9, 2010 | googlec507860f6901db00.html | |
