(SANTA MONICA KTLA) - KTLA reports that an alleged gunman was arrested near Santa Monica College Friday after one person was killed in a shooting and two bodies were discovered in a nearby house.

The incident began when the alleged gunman broke into one home then set fire to another property, sources told the Los Angeles Times.

Two bodies were found inside one of the homes, according to fire officials.

The shooting was reported around 11:55 a.m. when a fully armed man standing on a street corner near Cloverfield and Olympic boulevards fired on multiple vehicles, including a bus, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Several people were treated at UCLA Medical Center in connection with the shooting, one victim died at the hospital.

The alleged gunman was taken into custody, but it was unclear if he acted alone.

“We do have reports that there is one suspect in custody; however, after that suspect was taken into custody, we continued to receive additional reports of shots fired in the area … there is still a search going on in the area for a possible second suspect or additional suspects,” Joslin said.

Police confirmed there was also an emergency on the campus of Santa Monica College, but did not confirm a shooting.

The college was placed on lockdown, according to Santa Monica College officials.

Students on campus were asked to stay out of open spaces, stay indoors, lock all doors and not open the doors until they receive an all clear from college officials.

The incident took place not far from where President Barack Obama’s motorcade passed through Santa Monica, but sources said the shooting appears to be unrelated to his visit.

Special thanks to KTLA

I understand that the alleged suspect had a middle eastern name. A Muslim? Not. Maybe a tea party member who was upset about the taxes.
