Jul-19-2010 15:45TweetFollow @OregonNews Breaking News: World May be Moving Closer to AYM'S BP Gulf 'Doomsday' ScenarioTerrence Aym for Salem-News.comDrudge Report highlights incredible news stories:
(GULF OF MEXICO) - Drudge crashed the Texas A&M University website when he linked to the report from Dr. John Kessler who just returned from the Gulf. Kessler, a scientific expert on geology and mass extinction events noted that the methane is about 1 million times higher than normal in certain regions of the Gulf and that levels haven't been this high since last extinction event 55 million years ago ... The other link is an article confirming a large fissure leaking oil/methane from ocean floor miles away from the Gulf wellhead salvage operations. Some experts have pointed to geological instability in the area. Others are wondering if the cracks are an indication of the event cascading. Still others contend that the cracks are 'natural.' Yet no one knew of the 100 foot fissure the NOAA research ship Thomas Jefferson discovered several weeks ago. And no one has come forward to explain Dr. John Kessler's findings: methane 1 million times higher than normal has flooded Gulf waters. Read the article that started it all, went viral on the 'Net, and has been discussed on 5 continents: What can happen if BP is unable to stop the region's ocean floor from cracking opening fissures and allowing the massive amount of methane to escape... I hate to say this but it might be a good thing they are drlling an eruption might be avoided if the pressure is relieved enough . If memory serves me right this is right where the scientists say the bulk of organic matter ect was pushed from a huge slide after the ice age . The bubble has to surface sometime . Just a thought .

Nobody is talking about Kessler's "findings" because the guy is a nut. Since when do we really listen to crackpots? There are drilling sites all over the world, "releasing" methane/oil pressure from deep in the earth, not "building" it. A bubble as Kessler descibes would need be the size of a large ocean to cause the destruction described. In short, not possible. Perhaps in an earlier, more volcanic and volatile earth, but not today.

Awesome reporting Terrance. Here are the calculations on the methane and why it is 2000 times worse than the oil. http://www.helium.com/items/1895812-bp-gulf-disaster

Lets take an area of geological instability and drill nearly 4,000 holes in it. WTF.
