The ADC says the aim of this briefing is to bring important findings to the United States Congress, its members, and their staff.

(Washington D.C.) - The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) will hold a Capitol Hill Briefing on Wednesday July 15, 2009, to discuss violations of international humanitarian law in the Gaza Strip. The briefing will feature a panel discussion with representatives from Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. Both organizations have recently produced extensive reports on violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza during the 22-day war this past winter. The war in Gaza left nearly 1,400 Palestinians dead as well as 13 Israelis. For nearly three weeks, the war featured powerful weapons being used on one of the world's most densely populated areas. The devastation in Gaza came after nearly two years of siege and reconstruction has yet to take place after the war because of the ongoing blockade. The ADC says the aim of this briefing is to bring the important findings of these reports to the United States Congress, its members, and their staff. "Please take a moment to send an e-mail to your Congressional representatives encouraging them to attend the briefing or, if they are unable to attend, to send the appropriate staff member."
