Brian Terry (In Memorial) Border Patrol Agent

Federal agents are not part of the suspected ring; in fact it was an ATF agent who blew the whistle on the 'Fast and Furious' gunrunning operation to Mexican cartels in the first place.

(CLEVELAND) - The family of murdered Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry says they may seek justice by suing the federal government.

USBP Agent Brian Terry

Terry family attorney Paul Charlton explains in a current FOX News article that Brian was killed in December 2010 at the hands of an illegal immigrant working for the Sinaloa Cartel while patrolling an area near Tucson known as Rio Rico.

"If the evidence shows Brian's death was proximately caused by the negligence of the federal government, there may be a cause of action," Charlton said.

This story of the U.S. government supplying weapons to deadly cartels in Mexico is growing by the day. Last December's Murder of Agent Terry was the worst possible, yet highly anticipated outcome of the 'Fast and Furious' gunrunning operation implemented by ATF.

It is important to note that the agents on the ground are the enforcement arm of U.S. border security. Those ground pounders are not part of the suspected ring, in fact it was an ATF agent who blew the whistle on the 'Fast and Furious' gunrunning operation to Mexican cartels in the first place.

Brian Terry (In Memorial) Border Patrol Agent

12/10, a Border Patrol Agent is shot by an illegal immigrant,
However, that is not what makes this murder so significant,
Neither that the five robbers decided to shoot it out, not run,
Brian Terry was savagely murdered from an American gun.

Family Attorney Paul Charlton might sue, “a cause of action,”
Even by the smallest act of negligence, just a minute fraction,
Are they saying the federal government failed, take a number,
While Uncle Sam is responsible many an incompetent blunder.

Terry’s loved ones are heartbroken and understandably upset,
Justice! LeVena Johnson, Pat Tillman, don’t hold your breath,
Kenneth E. Melson, Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, head,
Mexican drug cartel runners are informants uh an agent is dead.

There is not one explanation that can suffice as to how or why,
Weapons meant for authorities ended up in the hands of bad guys,
An operation known as, “Fast and Furious” didn’t go over too well,
Guns were purchased in the U.S. so they could be traced to the cartel.

ATF lost track of sold guns as some were found at the crime scene,
Senator Grassley, Representative Issa cry misuse of American green,
Did the DOJ really allow Mexican criminals to smuggle weapons in?
Engaging in such activities is highly prejudicial so let the trial begin.

Pure lunacy allowing your own to be front & center on the firing line,
When you know damn well, in no cellblock will the Mexicans do time,
We need an intelligent informant strategically placed south of the border,
And since he’s no good in his present position I nominate, “Eric Holder.”

Oh, not just the family has the right to be, “Furious” but not so, “Fast,”
With the track records of these discombobulations it will not be the last,
Smuggling dope, guns or humans, every illegal pursuit is all about cash,
Why is it every time we fund Mexico we end up cleaning our own trash?

Luke Easter is a poet who writes about things that are very close to the heart of Salem-News.com. Another former U.S. Marine, Luke heals the world with an approach that reaches people on a different level, one known for centuries, yet too often forgotten in the one we live in.

We live in a world of social & economic injustice. The main reason for founding America in the first place was to relieve the oppression of the King of England. Patrick Henry said it best, “give me liberty or give me death.” And yet, all too often death seems to be the only way out. Why is there such a high suicide rate especially among teens, in the land of the free & the home of the brave? What makes headlines? Good news? Ha! More depressing stories than anything else. I feel poetry takes an edge off the hurt of bad news while still delivering it but in a, “glitzy” sort of way. Giving a different perspective. Kind of like slap in the face as opposed to a knife in the back. At least with the slap you’ll live to see another day and you will know whom it’s from. I wasn’t here for the beginning of the world but at 59, I just might be here for the end.<

Even though it’s still a knife, rhyme poetry helps to dull the blade. And that’s my job. You can write to Luke Easter at: lyricsfromlucas@aol.com
