(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has arrested a shooting suspect believed responsible for the attempted murder incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon on SW 65th, in Tualatin. Detective Jim Strovink with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says that a result of this investigation, his office alerted law enforcement and new sources with suspect information related to this shooting incident. He says Tualatin Police recognized the suspect vehicle, a 1996, Dodge, Pick-up Truck parked in front of a residence at 9945 SW Lumbee, in Tualatin. "At approximately 10:00 PM, Tualatin Police and Washington County Tactical Team members conducted surveillance at this location and waited for the unsuspecting Kenneth James Leeper to exit this residence and jump into his Dodge truck." Strovink says that at midnight, Leeper exited the described residence, entered his truck and was immediately surrounded by Washington County Sheriff's Office Tactical Team personnel. "Reportedly, Leeper attempted to drive away to avoid capture; however, spike strips were deployed which helped to thwart his escape." Leeper was taken into custody, unharmed, then transported to the Clackamas County Jail and lodged for two counts of Attempted Aggravated Murder. Leeper is expected to be arraigned today at 3:00 PM in the Clackamas County Court House. The shooting victim that was airlifted to Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital late yesterday afternoon in serious condition is identified as 30-year old Jacob W. Johnson, is reported to be recovering from his gunshot wound that is no longer considered be life–threatening. The second victim, who resides with Jacob W. Johnson at the SW 65th address, was not injured during this shooting incident and is identified as 44-year old John Eron Schmit who works for Extreme Electric as an apprentice electrician.
