(WALTERVILLE, OR) - He believes President Obama should order a ballistics test of the claimed murder weapon in the assassination of Dr. King. He also wants to see government documents related to Dr. King’s assassination released. Ray is working with Tamara Carter, independent researcher of the Martin Luther King Jr. assassination and author of A Memoir of Injustice. They're calling on President Barack Obama to honor Black History Month with a complete ballistics test of the alleged murder weapon and release all documents related to Dr. King’s life and assassination. BackgroundAt the age of 76, Jerry Ray is determined to see the full story of MLK’s assassination revealed, he is working to get the murder weapon allegedly used by his brother, James Earl Ray, rigorously tested and pass the MLK Records Act to declassify all records about the assassination. The King family supports Mr. Ray’s claim, concluding the evidence linking James Earl Ray to the actual killing of MLK is fallacious (click to see full transcript of the King Family versus Jowers Civil Case). While exploring the family’s involvement with crime and incarceration, Jerry Ray paints the picture of an older brother who involved himself with questionable characters that Jerry believes ultimately framed his brother for an orchestrated assassination of the man many in political and government circles feared would be the “Messiah” of the nation’s downtrodden. Mr. Ray recounted his story to author Tamara Carter, who penned the book, A Memoir of Injustice. Ms. Carter is a charter member and serves on the Board of Directors of the Coalition on Political Assassinations.
