Skype Recognizes Region of Palestine

From the US Palestine is not an option in the box inviting you to “Select a Country or Other Area”.

(ISTANBUL) - Perusing international calling rates on Skype the other day, I noted that “Palestine Region” is listed as one of the subcategories for Israel, along with “Jerusalem” and “Mobile”.

I’ve thus added the Skype designation to a handful of other conceptions of Palestine promoted by select entities across the globe:

  • Skype: Palestine = region
  • Various Latin American countries: Palestine = state with 1967 borders
  • U.S. State Dept. website: Palestine = not an option in the box inviting you to “Select a Country or Other Area”
  • Palestinian Authority: Palestine = negotiable
