(ALBANY, Ore.) - An Albany Police Detective shot and wounded 22-year old Linn County resident Brandon Lee Maxfield Wednesday at approximately 12:30 p.m. Albany Police Captain Eric Carter, says Maxfield was wanted in connection with at least three armed business robberies in Albany since the beginning of 2009. "The detective who fired the shot is identified as Detective Glenn Fairall, a 16-year veteran of the Albany Police Department. As is common in any traumatic incident, Detective Fairall will be on paid administrative leave until he is able to return to duty," Carter said. At approximately 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, members of the Albany Police Detective Unit responded to the 100 block of SW 7st Avenue after receiving information that Brandon Maxfield might go to 118 SW 7st Avenue. Carter says just prior to 12:30 p.m. Brandon Maxfield arrived at the home by car and went inside. "When Brandon Maxfield walked back outside a few moments later he was confronted by Albany Police Detectives who ordered him to the ground. Brandon Maxfield ran back into the house and out a back door into the backyard," Carter reported. Brandon Maxfield was confronted by Detective Fairall after running into the backyard. "Detective Fairall fired a single round from his police rifle which struck and wounded Brandon Maxfield. Brandon Maxfield was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis where he received treatment for his injury." Carter says Maxfield was released from the hospital on Thursday, and lodged in the Linn County Jail on the following charges: • 4 counts of Robbery in the First Degree• 2 counts of Robbery in the Second Degree • A Linn County Circuit Court Warrant charging Fail to Comply on a charge of Carrying a Concealed Weapon • A Lebanon Municipal Court Warrant charging Fail to Comply on a charge of DUII The Oregon State Police and Linn County Sheriff's Department, in conjunction with the Linn County District Attorney's Office, is investigating the shooting.
