Barack Moves Ahead in 3 State Primaries

In Barack's victory in Virgina last night, we won 142,000 more votes than all of the Republicans combined, and his victory margin over Senator Clinton is larger than John McCain's entire vote total.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Three more Democratic primaries went to Barack Obama last night as he continues to close the small lead held by Hillary Clinton. This is Obama's eighth consecutive win and it puts him in the front position in the race for delegates.

Obama's victories in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. come on the heels of wins in five recent runoffs that were held over the weekend. Now the candidates are looking toward February 19th when voters in Hawaii and Wisconsin will cast their votes. Obama grew up in Hawaii and already has the support of Wisconsin's governor.

His campaign is gaining momentum on a fairly equal footing, and Obama says it is about all Americans, and not necessarily a partisan issue any longer.

"We have now won east and west, north and south, and across the heartland of this country we love. We have given young people a reason to believe, and brought folks back to the polls who want to believe again. And we are bringing together Democrats and Independents and Republicans; blacks and whites; Latinos and Asians; small states and big states; Red States and Blue States into a United States of America."

The upcoming March 4th showdown between Clinton and Obama in the delegate-rich states of Texas and Ohio is now the focus of concentration. Ohio saw former Astronaut John Glenn's endorsement of the Clinton campaign yesterday, but after her series of losses to Obama, Clinton needs to win in both states to regain momentum. Her campaign does express confidence in a Texas win.

"We're going to sweep across Texas in the next three weeks, bringing our message about what we need in America," Clinton told supporters last night in El Paso. "I'm tested, I'm ready, let's make it happen."

Former Presidential Candidate John Kerry says the Obama campaign is exciting, "Because I have seen so much hope out there as I’ve traveled the country for Barack. Excited, because as frustrated as I’ve been that the three words 'George W. Bush' silenced any conversation at dinner tables around the country the last eight years, I think we’ve found three words that will open a conversation across the old divides, regardless of race, religion, gender, or income level -- and those three words are 'President Barack Obama'.

Obama has gained a clear advantage over Clinton in the race for delegates, and that is a big turnaround from last week. The delegates will cast the votes for the Democratic party's nominee at the national convention in August.

The non-partisan Web site thegreenpapers.com shows Obama ahead of Clinton by 1,029 delegates to 952. A candidate needs 2,025 delegates to win the Democratic nomination.

Dear Salem Editors, I was doing a research on an article and came across your web site. I found out that it is actually a great job being done just to bring the news outside from one of the perspectives. However, there are a few points, wich actually leaves a shade of dismay on us while we surf through your pages. Ghar in pashtoo language, spoken by pashtoons in south afghanistan, the relatives of talibs, whom you fight, means mountain. And there is no mountain in afghanistan that we call it mountain in pashtoo language. I ask would like to ask you hereby, to please be objective when reporting. It is a shame that still the world actually turns a blind eye on the fact that it were the pashtoons in afghanistan who brough taliban around, and it is them yet who help talibs. I really dont find a productive point being brought about by supporting them and ignoring the persians in afghanistan, the north who fought side by side while repelling the talib and arab scum out of afghanistan. may god bless you. here is my email address, in case someone cared to reply siavashian@hotmail.de

Recent research on broad characteristics of highly successful people in major skilled occupations confirms what has long been a solid finding of cognitive science: They ALL, without fail, show emotion and intensity of feeling for major aspects of their work as driving engine for whatever they accomplish. They also show high skill in building professional control of every aspect related to what they do, be they teachers, doctors in many specialties, religious leaders or successful in private endeavors (yes, "for profit", not a bad word among all who understand society.) It is only those who do not, or cannot, control their emotions, and thus strike out ad hominem at others when under pressure, that are unable to fully utilize that major driving force in every successful life: Emotion. This major cognitive area research, it so happens, was and is now lead by a major student of Dr. Chomsky's.

I sure would hate to have a surgeon perform an operation promulgated via emotion. To make a decision based on a careful reflection on available facts is a far superior way to approach one's decisions in life, unless of course you are not concerned about the negative impacts of impulsiveness. Fortunately as we age and mature most recognize how counter-productive rash impulsiveness can be...at least most of us. Note: As per the vote tally Obama had in Virginia recently, the last time a democrat won a presidential election here was in 1964 (LBJ), 44 years ago, and in 1948 (Truman) 60 years ago. Hey maybe another democrat will win this year, but the odds will be against them. Maybe the democratic candidate will be the odds?

To all: SO speaketh in fulsome detail voice known here for ad hominem attacks, utter disregard of documentations when supplied, and other essential attributes of "kill opponent by any means" attitudes, typical of a certain political group now suffering extreme reverses. There is a precise term demanded for self-defensive statement here such as this. Do I have to spell it out for you ? : Hypocritical. FYI, strong emotion towards what we have been subjected to by the current"administration" is entirely appropriate and I recommend it to guide the key decisions we need to make on essential issues and approach to problems created by those who distort, pervert and misinform for their own malign personal political purposes. This election year will prove to be very interesting and hopefully it will become clear to the voting public in the general election just where the candidates stand. My prayer is that we will have a civil and polite environment so the voters do not feel pressured to make a vote based on emotion, but one where a thoughtful reflection and character/experience examination may occur. I have my doubts that this will happen, but I have "hope" that this will happen and wouldn't it be a refreshing "change?"
