Group Takes Black Eyed Peas Approach With John McCain Video

The video suggests a campaign slogan for McCain in '08, "LIKE HOPE, BUT DIFFERENT"

(SALEM, Ore.) - A group with an uncanny resemblance to the Black Eyed Peas wasted little time in generating a music video about John McCain, similar to the recently released video on Barack Obama titled "Yes We Can." (Black Eyed Peas and Obama say 'Yes We Can')

The McCain song titled "john.i.am" features band members singing to the words of speeches likely to be remembered in American history.

According to the Election08 video on Youtube, this cut also features the work of Andy Cobb, Josh Funk, Nyima Funk, Marc Evan Jackson, Mark Kienlen, David Pompeii and Marc Warzecha.

Special guests in the video include Beth Farmer, Matt Craig, Rebecca Allen, Kai Pompeii, Kevin Douglas and Victor Lopez.

"John.i.am" is without a doubt a spoof based on the Barack Obama video. The expressions the band members let go with say it all. The video has been viewed millions of times since its debut last week.

In a similar setting, the video is recorded in black and white. Actors sing over Sen. John McCain's speeches and interviews, and strikes at his pro war position regarding Iraq and links the Arizona senator with the policies of our current government.

As the video winds toward its close, viewers hear John McCain saying, "I don't think Americans are concerned if we're (in Iraq) for a hundred years or a thousand years or a ten thousand years."

At that point, the screen reads: "IRAQ WITHDRAWAL DATE: 12,008. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT IN NOVEMBER. McCAIN '08. LIKE HOPE, BUT DIFFERENT."

Here are the lyrics from "john.i.am":

The work that we face in our time is great
in a time of war
and the terrible sacrifices it entails
the promise of a better future is not always clear
there's gonna be other wars

I'm sorry to tell you there's gonna be other wars
there's gonna be a lot of combat wounds
and my friends it's gonna be tough
and we're gonna have a lot to do

That old Beach Boys song, Bomb Iran?
Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb...

I'm still convinced that withdrawal means chaos
and if you think that things are bad now
if we withdraw--you ain't seen nothing yet
was the war a good idea, worth the price in blood and treasure?

It was a good idea
President Bush talked about our staying in Iraq for 50 years
Maybe a hundred, that's fine with me
I don't think Americans are concerned if we're there for a hundred years, or a thousand years, or ten thousand years.

This video was not done by the Black Eyed Peas. John.i.am was done by the people you listed. That is me playing the character you think is Will.i.am. My name is David Pompeii. Just so you know.

Tim to David, I am humbly embarrassed and appreciate your clarification, will make adjustments to the story, sorry!
