(ZIG ZAG, Ore.) - A composite drawing of an unidentified suspect has been released by Oregon State Police. The man is sought in connection with the December 10th shooting of two men on Highway 26 in the Zig Zag area that seriously wounded both men. One remains in a Portland-area hospital. In addition to the composite drawing released today, two segments of dispatch recordings were previously released to help develop information and leads with the ongoing investigation. Investigators say the suspect is still described as a white male in his 30's wearing a baseball cap and an unknown color t-shirt. No definitive vehicle description is known other than it was a passenger car. Investigators are asking for the public's help to solve this case. Anyone with information regarding a person matching the composite drawing known to be in the Mt. Hood area on December 10, 2007 at approximately 10:00 PM is asked to call Oregon State Police Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888. The lead investigator is Detective Patti Rhodes. On the day of the shooting, the two victims, 33-year old Joseph Langley and 32-year old Joshua Gehrke, both of Gresham, were returning from a snowboarding evening in the Government Camp area with Gehrke's 9-year old son, and his son's 9-year old friend, westbound on Highway 26. They say that as they approached Rhododendron, a passenger car reportedly began following too closely behind the van and did not pass them even as they were driving in the four-lane section. Langley pulled onto the shoulder and stopped near Lolo Pass Road to allow the car to drive by, but upon doing so the car stopped on the shoulder behind the van. The victims got out of the van and walked toward the car during which a short verbal exchange between the victims and suspect took place. Shortly after, rounds shot from a handgun struck both men. After being shot, the victims returned to the van and drove a short distance westbound before stopping on the shoulder at the E. Lolo Pass Road intersection. The men called 9-1-1 as the suspect drove away possibly westbound. Oregon State Police, Hoodland Fire Department personnel, AMR ambulance, Clackamas County Sheriff's Department, and ODOT responded to the scene.
