(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland Police Bureau Sex Crimes Unit detectives arrested a 39-year-old man Wednesday after an investigation into reported child sexual abuse and possession of child pornography. Ronald Nelson Chandler was arrested on charges of Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree, Sex Abuse in the First Degree and six counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the First Degree. Chandler will be arraigned on Thursday. The investigation started on August 10, when East Precinct officers responded to a Southeast Portland home on the report of child sex abuse and the possession of child pornography. The victim (now an adult) reported to police that the incidents occurred over a 10 year period. On August 18, detectives served a search warrant at Chandler's home in the 14900 block of Southeast Division Street and seized several items of evidence. Chandler's juvenile children were placed into protective custody. Detectives are concerned that Chandler may have victimized other children and are asking for information from the public.
