Salem Hospital Building Evacuated Over Gas Line BreakTim King Salem-News.comMotorists should avoid the area as crews work to bring the problem under control.
(SALEM, Ore.) - The Salem Fire Department is dealing with a gas leak at the psychiatric building maintained by Salem Hospital. A one inch gas line there has been ruptured. The call was reported at 12:22 PM. Salem Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says the building has been evacuated, adding that it is only one building at Salem Hospital. The facility has been under reconstruction for over a year, it was not clear if the gas line break was a result of new construction in the area. Motorists should avoid driving in the vicinity of 1127 Oak Street in Salem until the situation is resolved.
