(RAYMOND, Wash.) - Eleanor Roosevelt, as portrayed by Storyteller Debbie Dimitre, makes her fourth appearance in four consecutive years at the Northwest Carriages Museum in Raymond, Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 2:30 p.m.

Ms Dimitre does her presentation at this- one of three unique museums in Northern Pacific County, as a mature Mrs. Roosevelt surrounded by carriages; a few with realistic looking horses which would have been familiar during the First Lady’s childhood.

In a smaller room of the museum is a display on which children are invited to climb.

A generous free parking area is available in front of the museum on Alder Street by a turn west off Highway 101 at Heath Street in downtown Raymond; admittance to this event is by suggested donation of $5.00.

The date is the “Anna Eleanor Roosevelt Day” Second Monday in August long weekend as established by Resolution 94-62 of the Washington State Grange at the 1994 Convention at Hoquiam, endorsed by the National Grange Convention that November.

As announced by Chase’s Events Calendar, the first public observance of the as yet little known holiday was in Pacific County of Southwest Washington in 2003.

Raymond Branch of Timberland Regional Library has mounted a display in August annually as Willapa Chapter DAWN; Domestic Abuse Women’s Net along with Willapa Valley Grange announced small one day annual gatherings in 2003, 2004, 2005.

Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire proclaimed August 14, 2006 as Eleanor Roosevelt Day.

This small coastal community of incorporated Raymond/South Bend, with a joint population of about 5000 on the Willapa River, shortly before Willapa Bay and the Pacific Ocean, has become nationwide center of celebration of a woman esteemed worldwide.

Eleanor Roosevelt is surely the best known female in our country of that time period.
