Somali Bandits: Robin Hoods With an AK-47 and an Itchy Finger

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Jamac Habeb, a 30 year-old self-proclaimed pirate, told the Associated Press “From now on, if we capture foreign ships and their respective countries try to attack us, we will kill them”. Now what was the next question?

Another comment was “Somali pirates until today were proud to have a humanitarian code of conduct”. I guess this is like stealing someone’s last food supply just because the bandit has an AK47!

I am sure that Americans and other westerners etc do not understand the mindset of most Africans towards our OBVIOUS wealth. When we obviously have soooo much stuff why do we want to complain and/or fight back when they want to steal it?

We speak of Africa being a third world country. Most places (80% of most countries) are 4th world barely out of the stone age.

Almost every African country has a severe problem with Africans robbing and killing westerners. Americans are advised to stay clear of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzia and Zimbabwe just for instance. Rich westerners are sitting ducks which lay golden eggs.

One email writer suggested we might get the pirates a job – what, herding goats? Just remember Idi Amin in Uganda was a goat herder before he rose through the ranks and became a general and Dictator. Then he killed 200 thousand of the ruling Buganda Tribe. Mugabe of Zimbabwe almost the same.

Some (fortunately very few) believe that power is at the end of the gun. Few African countries had real peace this past 100 years.

Most Africans are so desperately poor that any risk is worth trying to get them out of their abject destitution. This is why there are Somali bandits. Every other African country has them also.

I am closely familiar with Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania – I lived there. I also read about The Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Chad, Sudan, etc.

Americans you best stay away!
