Horrors... the National Cherry Blossom Parade Might Not Take Place!

I apologize folks but our leaders need help and they need it badly. Would someone, anyone... please go to Washington and help them pull their heads out of their asses?

(HARRISVILLE, N.H.) - According to an article written by Rob Port and published by “The Hill” Wednesday, the current administration issued a warning the if the government were to go into shutdown mode, the National Cherry Blossom Parade might not take place.

Wow! You know, I could not sleep all night last night, worrying about that.

There are children dying in the Middle East every day and many of those deaths are a direct result of our involvement in spending taxpayer dollars on wars over there.

There are families all over the world, including the United States, who put their children to bed hungry almost every night because the breadwinner has not been able to find work in months and even years.

Families have lost their homes. Disease still runs rampant in many countries around the world. Human beings are busy killing each other in the name of God and there is no end to that in sight.

These things and worse are going on daily and we are worried about a Cherry Blossom Parade?

I apologize folks but our leaders need help and they need it badly. Would someone, anyone... please go to Washington and help them pull their heads out of their asses?

Some would say that the things I mentioned are all too big and potentially never-ending. They would say that this reference was in relation to a specific short-term cost of a government shutdown.

Really?

Well how about this specific short-term cost of a government shutdown: the families of all those Marines, Soldiers, and Sailors stationed half-way around the world will not be getting the paychecks, which many need to survive, during a shutdown. Isn’t that worth worrying about more than some parade?

The point I am trying to make here folks is that Washington seems to place every politician who ventures there into a stupor of a sort.

It is almost as if there was a welcoming committee at Dulles International Airport to greet these politicians with a fist full of stupid pills. Did these people lose touch with reality after being elected or were they born in La-La Land?

Things could get much worse you know. Why someone could suggest that a Senator might actually have to work more than six years before becoming eligible for a full-pay retirement. Perish the thought!

Is anyone besides me beginning to feel like the entire world is in a shower together and these politicians are all just walking around in that shower waiting for someone to drop their soap?

Salem-News.com admittedly, is very critical of both American politics, as well as those of other nations that we perceive is being wrong in their motives and actions. At the same time, within these structures we criticize, are many outstanding people who make each day a better place for all those around them. They embody and personify the American spirit that is sometimes fleeting, but always present.

Thank you for your comments. I only wish I could say that what they are recommending re: radiation surfacing in the U.S., surprised me . . . sadly, it does not. Isn't it strange how we keep electing leaders who amaze up with their total lack of common sense. The fact that this seems to happen election after election regardless of political party affiliation is discouraging to say the least. May peace be with you. Bob

Bob... Thanks for this commentary! I've considered recommending a bill mandating that current and former politicians be required to register and post placards on their property warning that convicted and lacking conviction dangerous idiots and perverts are living in our neighborhoods. We'd have to come up with some sort of color coded arm band or something similar for them to wear in public. They look just like real people. Consider this one.. in response to events of radiation surfacing in US, these idiots are recommending raising the limits for tolerance in products effected..including water! That should make the public feel more safe, right?
