The Air Guard helicopter launching to aid in the rescue is based in Salem, Oregon.
(SALEM) -
The Oregon Army National Guard is preparing to launch a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter in support of a rescue in Lane County.
A hiker with a possible dislocated knee who may be going into shock could require evacuation by hoist - an operation in which a rescuer is lowered from the helicopter by cable to stabilize a patient for extraction.
Rescue crews say the hiker is in the Waldo Lake area of Lane County. The Lane County Sheriff's office is the lead agency for the rescue.
Traffic was moving slowly by the scene of the crash Saturday at 7:00 PM.

A female passenger was killed and a male driver seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a single vehicle rollover crash southbound on Interstate 5 about 1/2 mile south of the Highway 34 interchange.
No names are being released pending next of kin notification.
State troopers say the crash happened Saturday at approximately 3:50 PM. A vehicle was southbound in the right hand lane on Interstate 5 near milepost 227 when, for an unknown reason, the driver lost control and went across the left hand lane before rolling on the inside center median shoulder.
Founded in 2001, the Oregon Bus Project has mobilized thousands of volunteers and activists from around the state.

Hundreds of volunteers turned out Saturday at Bush’s Pasture Park to be part of a coordinated canvassing effort put on by the Brian Clem and Paul Evans campaigns.
Multiple grass roots organizations including the Oregon Bus Project, Stand for Children, Marion County Democrats, SEIU, and members of local Veterans groups were in attendance.
