Crash on Southbound I-5 Kills Passenger and Seriously Injures Driver

Traffic was moving slowly by the scene of the crash Saturday at 7:00 PM.

(CORVALLIS) - A female passenger was killed and a male driver seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a single vehicle rollover crash southbound on Interstate 5 about 1/2 mile south of the Highway 34 interchange.

On July 8, 2006 at approximately 3:50 p.m., .

State troopers say the crash happened Saturday at approximately 3:50 PM. A 2001 Ford Explorer pickup driven by 51-year old Duane Roberts Hunt of northwest Salem, was southbound in the right hand lane on Interstate 5 near milepost 227 when, for an unknown reason, it lost control and went across the left hand lane before rolling on the inside center median shoulder.

Hunt was seriously injured and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis.

The female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. She is identified as 52-year old Luann M. Bock of northeast Salem

The male driver was seriously injured and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. The female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both were using safety restraints.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Linn County Sheriff's Office, ODOT, and local fire personnel assisted.

OSP troopers and ODOT were still on scene at 7:00 PM. Traffic was getting through southbound using the right hand lane and highway shoulder.
