15-Year Old Salem Boy Killed in Hunting Accident (UPDATE)

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Yamhill County Sheriff badge Officials in Yamhill County say a 15-year old Salem boy was killed this morning when he was shot by a member of his hunting party.

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree, says the victim, 15-year old Matthew Gretzon, his father, sister and uncle were hunting in the 59000 block of Highway 22, approximately 3 miles north of Grand Ronde.

Fugitive Josh Nicholas Captured in Yamhill County

After successfully eluding police, Nicholas was captured hours later at a residence in unincorporated Yamhill County.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 2007 photo of 36-year old Josh Nicholas Officials say a fugitive out of Washington County, 36-year old Josh Nicholas, was captured tonight in rural Yamhill County by investigators who had been looking for him throughout the day.

Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, says deputies and the US Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force tracked Josh Nicholas down, explaining that he is a felon wanted for parole violation warrants.

Yamhill County Charity Director Indicted for Embezzlement

Elizabeth Rhode was arrested on September 15, 2009.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Elizabeth Anne Rhode faces seven counts of forgery and aggravated theft for allegedly stealing more than $50,000 from the Crystal Dawn Smith Rilee Foundation, Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree said.

The Sheriff joined Yamhill County District Attorney Brad Berry and Oregon Attorney General John Kroger today, to announce the indictment and arrest of the local charity director on charges of embezzlement.

Sheriff`s Deputies Arrest 37 DUII Drivers over Labor Day Weekend

Sheriff's offices in this report include Washington County, Clackamas County, Multnomah County and Yamhill County.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Handcuffs As a result of a consolidated effort by the Regional Sheriff's Offices from Clackamas, Multnomah, Washington, and Yamhill counties, 37 DUII drivers were arrested and taken off of the region's roadways during the Labor Day weekend.

Deputies from the four Sheriff's Offices in the region worked extra shifts from Friday, September 4th to Monday September 7th, in an attempt to make the roads safer for holiday travelers.

Yamhill County officials say Webb is considered dangerous and should not be approached by any Yamhill County citizens.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - 28-year old Andrew James Webb Yamhill County Jail inmate Andrew James Webb ran from Yamhill County Courthouse at 3:19 p.m. this afternoon while being medically transported back to the Jail.

28-year old Andrew James Webb, is 6’1 approximately 185 lbs, has blue eyes and short brown hair. He had just been sentenced to 15 months consecutive time at the Yamhill County Jail and also had a Klickitat County, Washington hold pending.

Newberg Man Drowns in Willamette River

Witnesses say the man got into trouble about 40 feet from shore.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Oscar Cortes-Perez A Newberg man drowned in the Willamette River near Rogers Landing Boat Launch, Newberg, on Monday afternoon.

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree identified the man as 36-year old Oscar Cortes-Perez, who had lived in Newberg for about 10 years.

He most recently lived with friends at various locations around the city. Most of his family lives in Mexico.

Fugitive in Oregon Teen Sex Abuse Case Arrested in Indiana

America's Most Wanted Reports that the 43-year-old man was wanted for some of the "most heinous sex crimes on record in the jurisdiction.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - 43-year old Michael Dwayne Lemasters Investigators in Yamhill County say a former Newberg resident sought for over 45 counts relating to the sexual abuse of young women has been arrested in Indiana.

43-year old Michael Dwayne Lemasters reportedly fled the state in October 2008, shortly before warrants for his arrest were issued. LeMasters was sought in Yamhill, Washington and Clackamas county, with security set at $2,523,000.

Yamhill Man Shot by His Son In Early Morning Altercation

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree said his deputies were called to the home at 1:01 a.m. by Tyler Huwaldt, who told them that he had just shot his dad.

(YAMHILL, Ore.) - Shooting investigation A 57-year old Yamhill man was injured early this morning when he was shot in the leg by his 23-year old son.

Captain Ken Summers with the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, says John Wallace Huwaldt of NW Westside Road received superficial wounds when his son, 23-year old Tyler Carson Huwaldt, who resdies at the same address, fired a 22 caliber rifle during a 12:30 a.m. altercation in their home.

Amity Man Dies in Sledding Accident

A tragic turn for a family enjoying the Oregon snow is a harsh reminder of the risks.

(AMITY, Ore.) - Yamhill County badge Kenneth John Meyer was sledding with his wife and son outside of McMinnville when, at 11:48 AM, his sled left the driveway and slid into the path of a northbound 2004 Mazda pickup, according to police. He was killed by the impact.
