Man`s Body Discovered in Tualatin Creek

Tualatin Police do not suspect any foul play at this time and the death appears to be accidental.

(TUALATIN, Ore.) - Police say a white male was found lying face down in rain swollen Hedges Creek in Tualatin this morning. The report was called in by a passer-by who saw the body of the man when she was out walking her dogs. The body was reported at about 7:50 AM today.

Police officers responded and located the body of a white male lying face down in about 2-3 feet of water. The victim was clearly deceased.

Oregon`s Largest Sitka Spruce Breaks Apart in Storm

The tree split apart early Sunday morning at approximately 75 feet above the ground.

(SEASIDE, Ore.) - Oregon's largest living thing, the National co-champion Sitka Spruce tree in southern Clatsop County, was severely damaged by the weekend storm that struck the Oregon coast.

Known as the Seaside Spruce or the Klootchy Creek Giant, the tree had shared the title of the country's largest Sitka spruce with another one in Washington's Olympic National Park. At seventeen feet in diameter and 206 feet tall, it was not only the largest of its kind, but was also the first tree designated as an Oregon Heritage Tree.

Parade Means Canby Firefighters Will Brave the Weather Tonight

Canby Fire encourages residents to come out and get that foul weather photo.

(CANBY, Ore.) - This bad weather will not stop Canby Firefighters from their annual neighborhood parades supporting Canby area family's by collecting non perishible foods and toys, says Canby Fire Spokesman Troy Buzalsky.

He says tonight's parade starts at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds at 6:30 PM, and will run through various neighborhoods until it finishes at N Pine and 99E.

Sandbag Stations Open in Portland and Gresham

Sandbags can be a great help in avoiding property flooding, but you have to work ahead of the clock, and bring a shovel!

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Gresham homeowners needing sandbags to protect property from flooding or flows because of the rain may access the City's free, fill-your-own sandbag station at its Operations Center, 2123 S.E. Hogan Road.

The sandbag station is open 24 hours a day and provides sand, shovels and bags to residents of Gresham for home or private use only; sandbags are not available for commercial/contractor consumption. Citizens are responsible for the sandbags after use; public works crews do not dispose or retrieve them.

Red Cross Opens Four Evacuation Centers in Oregon

Several Oregon towns and cities are hit hard by the severe weather.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross has opened four evacuation centers in response to current weather events. They are located in St. Helens, Vernonia, Clatskanie and Tillamook.

Furious Weather in Oregon Relentless So Far

The storm snapped the world's tallest Sitka Spruce near Seaside.

(SALEM, Ore.) - After two days of hurricane strength winds along the Oregon Coast, officials say it could be days before power and phone service is restored to the area. Currently, the towns of Newport, Lincoln City, Astoria, and Seaside are without power, and have no phone or cell phone service.

Cape Meares saw gusts to 114 mph, Newport 83 mph, Astoria 85 mph, and Salem 46 mph. In Tillamook, the Wilson River is flowing down the lanes of Highway 101, which is CLOSED in several locations.

Recent Heavy Rain Leads to Sewer Overflow in Willamette River

Signs have been posted warning people to avoid contact with the water in the Willamette River due to potentially high levels of bacteria.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Recent rainfall combined with saturated ground conditions have resulted in the City of Salem overflowing diluted raw sewage into the Willamette River.

The gates at the North River Road diversion structure were opened at approximately 11:35 AM.

Portland Streets Flooding Under Heavy Rainfall

The City advises everyone to check road conditions before traveling.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The City of Portland Office of Transportation is advising the public that strong winds and heavy rainfall are creating some street hazards for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Heavy rainfall has resulted in street flooding and areas of standing water all around the city.

Heavy rainfall also brings the potential for rock and mud slides. Strong winds bring the potential for fallen trees, tree limbs, and power lines in streets and yards. The public is advised to travel cautiously and be on guard for hazards on streets and sidewalks.

Watch for Debris Flow and Landslides in Oregon

A debris flow warning has been issued for the Coast Range north of Newport to Salem until 6:00 PM.

(WESTERN OREGON) - A number of state highways have significant delays or closures in Oregon due to the ongoing storm conditions. A debris flow warning means that dangerous, rapidly-moving landslides are very likely.

While the debris flow warning remains in effect, people and travelers in the affected areas may be in imminent threat of serious injury and should take immediate precautions.
