Fatal Traffic Crash on Icy Road East of Santiam Junction

Highway 20 was closed for approximately two hours.

(SALEM, Ore.) - crash scene A Redmond-area man died and three others in his vehicle were injured Saturday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 20 just east of the Santiam Junction.

About 9:20 AM, a Ford Bronco towing a trailer operated by 48-year old Joseph Bowdin, from Redmond, lost control westbound on an icy section of Highway 20 near milepost 82 in the Santiam Pass, according to Senior Trooper Mike Brady. The trailer hit two other west bound vehicles causing only damage to those vehicles

Vernonia Flood Victims Search for Temporary Housing

The Lions Club as a special project to bring travel trailers to these families as temporary living shelters.

(VERNONIA, Ore.) - Vernonia, Oregon was seriously affected by recent floods as were neighboring communities. More than 60 families in Vernonia, Oregon are in need of temporary housing due to the recent flood damage last December. Reconstruction is underway for most of the damaged homes, but financial and housing assistance in the interim is slow or non-existent.

But crews assisting these families say they are in need of used travel trailers to put on their property while the repairs are being completed.

Two Injured in Head-On Crash near Klamath Falls

Police consider speed to be a contributing factor and the primary cause of the crash.

(LAKE OF THE WOODS, Ore.) - 2 vehicle crash on Highway 140W about thirty miles west of Klamath Falls near Lake of the Woods in Oregon, 2-14-08 State troopers say two people were seriously injured Thursday afternoon at approximately 5:20 PM in a two vehicle crash on Highway 140W about thirty miles west of Klamath Falls near Lake of the Woods.

According to Oregon State Police Sergeant Robert Fenner, a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner driven by 30-year old Jerimiah Paladino of Medford, was westbound on Highway 140W near milepost 36 when it lost control on an icy spot on the roadway and slid into the eastbound lane.

Keizer CERT Members Continue Assistance of Detroit and Idanha Residents

Keizer CERT Executive Director Greg Biben, said that his CERT members are highly motivated people who are always looking for way to help others and use their training.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - CERT members Jerry Orlando (left) and William The Keizer Community Emergency Response Team was activated and dispatched on Wednesday to the cities of Detroit and Idanha, Oregon.

The team spent Wednesday and Thursday assisting residents with snow removal following the largest snow accumulation recorded in decades those cities.

Tennessee Takes a Deadly Beating from Tornadoes

One survivor, an 11-month old baby boy, surprised rescue workers who assumed he was a doll, until he moved.

(NASHVILLE) - Tennessee tornado destruction Tennessee experienced at least two waves of severe weather that ranged from high-winds and hail to deadly tornadoes. As of 7:15 PM Wednesday, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency reported 31 confirmed fatalities related to the storm activity.

Those deaths, recorded by the Tennessee Department of Health, occurred in the following counties: Shelby, Fayette, Hardin, Macon, Madison, Sumner and Trousdale. More than 149 people have been reported as being injured and one person is presumed missing.

System will pump heavy rain into coastal areas of Pacific Northwest.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Accuweather.com weather image Weather forecasts indicate that the storm pattern will continue today in the Northwest as a new Pacific storm slams into British Columbia. Through Thursday, the storm will pump heavy rain into coastal areas in the Pacific Northwest and several more feet of snow in the Cascades.

Up to 18 inches of snow will fall by tonight across the Washington and Oregon Cascades. Snow levels through tonight will drop to around 3,000 feet, well below the passes.

Oregon Red Cross Volunteer to Help With Tornado Recovery Efforts

The Red Cross responds to the tornado stricken U.S. southern states.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Red Cross volunteer at work Across five southern states, American Red Cross people and supplies are flowing in to provide care and comfort to those affected by the devastating tornadoes.

Donna Jensen, a volunteer nurse with the Oregon Trail Chapter, has been requested by name to work at the Red Cross disaster operations center in Washington, D.C., overseeing the health services response to the tornadoes.
