(EUGENE, Ore.) - Western Oregon's cold snap is over and life is resuming its normal pace for most residents. The snow and ice overtook the area very quickly and many Oregonians were essentially snowbound last week.

Gateway Fred Meyer Store`s Roof Partially Collapses (PHOTOS)

Portland Fire & Rescue responds to two separate commercial partial collapse‏s.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland Firefighters responded to an early Saturday morning call for a partially collapsed roof at the Gateway Fred Meyer Store, located at 1111 NE 102nd Ave. The call was received at 7:00 AM, and crews arrived on scene shortly after receiving the call, Kim Kosmas with Portland Fire said.

Roof Collapses at Tualatin Commercial Building

The building has been deemed unsafe to occupy.

(TUALATIN, Ore.) - Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responded to a roof collapse of a commercial building at 8750 SW Old Tualatin Sherwood Road in Tualatin just after 9:00 AM this morning.

Walt Peck with TVFR says the caller to 9-1-1 also reported a strong odor of natural gas. Upon arrival, crews located and turned off the natural gas line for the building and worked to secure the site.

The portion of the building that experienced the roof collapse was unused and not heated. This likely contributed to an even greater build-up in the snow and ice load.

A Day in the Snow With Angus
