(SALEM, Ore.) - PGE crews continue to work around the clock to repair storm-related damage to power lines and other electrical equipment As of 8:00 PM, Sunday, approximately 55,000 PGE customers are without power across the service territory. About 32,000 of those outages (about 60 percent) are in the Salem area and surrounding southern region. More than 120 crews will continue to work through the night to repair damaged lines and equipment so that power can be restored to customers as quickly as possible. PGE will also bring in additional crews in the morning to work in the hardest hit areas in and around Salem. Some outages may also be in remote or difficult-to-reach areas where it would not be safe for crews to attempt repairs in darkness during the nighttime hours. PGE thanks all affected customers for their patience. Crews are working in very tough weather conditions. The outage activity relates to the snow, ice, and cold temperatures. There are also reports of downed power lines, so as always, PGE reminds everyone never to touch or even approach a downed utility line of any kind. Customers should report outages by calling 503-464-7777 in Portland, 503-399-7717 in Salem, or 1-800-544-1795 in other areas. kerry, read the link on how they prioritize work. I was in same situation (PGE mesg said power restored but it was still out for me), it was frustrating, but it makes sense. They fixed the larger area I was in (priority 5, area 1000-3000 homes) but the feeder line to my street (priority 6, 100 homes) was also out, but that had to wait until they (1) got additional complaints to ID small problem areas they didn't have time to hunt for and (2) fixed all the priority 1 through 5 things that effected larger numbers of people.

We were without power for three days. Our thanks to the PGE crews who worked hard to bring us power. We were fortunate to get back on about noon Christmas Eve day.

I would like to comment on this . My home and neighbors were some of the very first to lose power. After almost three days latter we finaly get a recording from PGE that are power has been turned on,we realized then they only fixed part of the neighborhood and left with not checking that they had completed there job. Once we realized they forgot about us we made a call back to PGE and they said "SOORY" you are now put on the bottom of the list and were not sure when we will get to you. We just can not understand for one why they did not finish the job why they were here and two why they put us back at the end for priority.

PGE page with helpful overview of progress: http://www.portlandgeneral.com/default.aspx As of Tuesday 557am,54000 homes without power, down from 70000 (and finally reversing trend for total to keep increasing every day). I also appreciated their document on how they prioritize their work. http://www.portlandgeneral.com/safety_and_outage/outage/restoring_power.aspx
