NW Oregon-SW Washington Storm System: High Winds & Rain Are Coming

The National Weather Service says we have a wet & wild time ahead.

(SALEM, Ore.) - high water A vigorous storm system will give ample rainfall and windy conditions to southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon today and Tuesday, with cool night time low temperatures later this week.

A storm off the Oregon coast this morning will produce gales over the coastal waters this afternoon and evening, as well as wind gusts to near 60 mph along the beaches and headlands, and 45 to 50 mph in coastal communities.

At Least 12 Fatalities in DC Navy Yard Shooting - Police

A male police officer and two civilian women are in critical conditions, but have “very good” chances for survival.

(WASHINGTON DC RT) - Washington Navy Yard Two of the three shooters, who went on a rampage at the Washington Navy Yard in Southeast DC, may be still at large, police said, adding that one gunman has been killed. At least 12 other people have died in the attack.

“The big concern for us right now is that we have potentially two other shooters that we have not located at this point,” D.C. Police Chief, Cathy Lanier, said.

Senator Leahy Schedules Hearings on Marijuana, Calls for Federal Respect for State Laws

Attorney General Holder Invited to Hearing Scheduled for September 10.

(WASHINGTON DC) - Senator Patrick Leahy Today Senator Patrick Leahy (D – VT) invited Attorney General Eric Holder to a September 10 hearing to clarify the federal response to states that have passed marijuana laws in conflict with federal policy.

Twenty states and the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana, and Colorado and Washington last year became the first places in the world to legalize and regulate marijuana for personal use.

America`s Bridges Are Falling Down, Falling Down...

According to a 2012 Skagit County Public Works Department, 42 of the county's 108 bridges are 50 years or older. The document says eight of the bridges are more than 70 years old and two are over 80.

(SEATTLE) - Bridge collapse in Washington An Interstate 5 bridge collapsed into the Skagit River, dumping two vehicles and a trailer in the waters north of Mount Vernon. A law-enforcement source said 150 yards of the interstate dropped into the water.

"It's a hell of a ride," the source said.

Bridge Collapse Is Another Wake Up Call

Currently we have a mentality that we must go around the world building cities and nations in other countries. We are doing this much to the demise of our own country.

(NEWBURGH, Indiana) -  Interstate 5 bridge in Mt. Vernon, Washington The collapse of the Interstate 5 bridge in Mt. Vernon, Washington should be another wake up call to all of us. America cannot continue to ignore our own schools, highways and bridges while we build schools, highways and bridges around the world. We have a deteriorating infrastructure problem.

I support helping our neighbors around the world but we cannot continue to borrow the money to do so. America is trillions of dollars in debt.

Washington Bridge Packed With Cars Collapses Into River

Those who were recovered were sent to a number of different local area hospitals.

(MT. VERNON, WA) - Washington bridge collapse The Associated Press reports that the Interstate 5 Bridge over the Skagit River in Northwestern Washington State collapsed tonight, dumping vehicles and people into the river.

State troopers are not certain as to how many people were injured.

It appears Smith is the only Washington lawmaker willing to back the legislation, at least now.

(WOODLAND WA) - Police Lights Woodland Police are investigating an incident that occurred this morning where two males in a vehicle apparently attempted to pick up one or more children walking to school.

It was reported that between 7 and 8 a.m., a black large SUV type vehicle was in the area of Gun Club Road, in Woodland.
