Washington Bridge Packed With Cars Collapses Into River

Those who were recovered were sent to a number of different local area hospitals.

Washington bridge collapse

(MT. VERNON, WA) - The Associated Press reports that the Interstate 5 Bridge over the Skagit River in Northwestern Washington State collapsed tonight, dumping vehicles and people into the river. State troopers are not certain as to how many people were injured, however they confirmed that there were no deaths.

NBC News reports that rescuers pulled three from the river after the bridge along Interstate-5 in Washington collapsed on Thursday evening.

The collapse sent cars plunging into the water below, according to Washington State Patrol.

It is not clear how many people were injured.

Those who were recovered were sent to a number of different local area hospitals, stated Marcus Deyerin of the Washington Incident Management Team.

Fortunately, emergency crews on scene told NBC that they have no reason to believe any others are still in the river.

Two vehicles were submerged in the Skagit River when the bridge fell around 7 p.m. local time (10 p.m. EDT).

Needless to say, traffic has been closed in both directions.

The "crumbling" was the result of an oversized load causing catastrophic damage. Money for wars and Israel had nothing to do with this one.
