Death of Vietnam War Photographer Roxanna Brown is Costly for SeaTac

Federal guards kept her from doctors, for days... until after she was dead. Something about the story is extremely fishy.

(SEATTLE) - Roxanna Brown was at one point, the youngest credentialed war photographer in Vietnam. A settlement of $880,000 will be paid by the federal government, to the family of Vietnam War Photographer Roxanna Brown, for her death in a federal detention center at Seattle's SeaTac Airport on May 14th 2008.

Former Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara Dies at the Age of 93

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates says Robert McNamara was a patriot and dedicated public servant who took on grave duties during a period of great consequence.

(WASHINTON D.C.) - Salem-News.com Robert Strange McNamara died today after a lifetime of U.S. government service. He was an American business executive and the eighth Secretary of Defense.

Robert McNamara's name is in the history books. He served as Defense Secretary for Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1968.

How many more Garry Price type tragedies have to happen before the VA serves the needs of those heroes who have guaranteed our freedom with their blood?

(LOS ANGELES) - Agent Orange Garry Lee Price is dying of cancer in a hospice in Sacramento while the Veterans Administration stalls on his service-related disability claim. His doctors give him two weeks to live. When he dies, the claim dies. And that’s the point.

The Veterans Administration, the health services side of the organization, has already determined that the cancer was caused by Garry’s exposure to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam.

PTSD, Depression, Anti-Depressants and Alcoholic Death

My emails from PTSD Vets and others indicate these drugs cause all kinds of adverse effects including nightmares and suicides.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Dr. Phil Leveque at a WWII Commemoration event. The first report of what we now call PTSD was reported by a physician in an Egyptian Pharaohs Army. That must have been about 4000 years ago. PTSD has plagued those in psychologic traumatic endeavors ever since.

American and British Army doctors trivialized it at least starting with America’s Civil War when it was said to be “they miss their mothers”, “home sickness”, or “soldiers heart”. The British called it “lack of moral fiber”. Who seeks sudden horrible death?

No question that the Dustoff crew saved the boy’s life. "Dustoff" was the Army’s radio call sign for medical evacuation choppers.

(CHESTER, Pa.) - The story of Captain Maureen (Robbie) Robinson and a Montagnard boy named Dinh Nit Captain Maureen (Robbie) Robinson, Army Nurse Corps, was on her second tour in Vietnam in 1970 when she first saw Dinh Nit. According to the medical report, Dinh Nit was around three years old, weighted only 18 pounds, suffered from severe malnutrition, parasite infections, and protein deficiency.

(MEXICO CITY) - Sean Flynn and Mexican Lobby Cards Mention the name "Sean Flynn" to any savvy tween and the recognition is instant: "He stars in Zoey 101." Indeed, the teenage actor, grandson of Australian-born screen legend Errol Flynn, is more than recognizable to legions of young Nickelodeon viewers.

However history buffs, especially those cognizant with the Vietnam War, might associate the name with Errol's son, an enigmatic combat photographer who vanished in Cambodia in 1970 along with fellow journalist Dana Stone - presumably captured by communist guerillas. He was 28 at the time. Flynn was believed to have died a year later; he was declared legally dead in 1984.

Wyden, Merkley Announce Funding To Improve Access to Mental Health Treatment for Rural Veterans

Program will reach out to veterans in Bend, The Dalles, Eugene, Grants Pass, Klamath Falls, and other communities.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Washinton D.C. U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley announced today that the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center will receive $1.9 million to improve mental health treatment for veterans in rural Oregon.

“As more and more of our veterans confront the sometimes severe mental health effects of serving in a very dangerous environment, we must commit to providing the best possible treatment to get these men and women back on their feet,” Wyden said.
