A Note on the American Psyche

In one of my stories last year I reviewed Shock Doctrine by fellow Canadian Naomi Klein. She recounted in depressing detail the horrors visited on other nations by American policies—almost always on behalf of business.

Iran Announces first all-Iranian aircraft squadron.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Saeqeh fighter plane Iran takes a unique step forward in the world of military aviation with the announcement of the country's first jet fighter squadron comprised of all Iranian aircraft. The Saeqeh jet fighter; Iranian built and designed- now has become part of Iran's Air Force.

Saeqeh means 'Thunderbolt' in Iran and that name was applied to what was undoubtedly one of the best American WWII fighters, the P-47 Thunderbolt which had a ridiculous amount of horsepower toward the end of the war.

ME Revolts Threaten US Military Bases

The recent uprisings in Arab states have raised serious concerns in the US over the major reliance of its military operations on its bases across Persian Gulf's Arab nations.

(TEHRAN PRESS TV) - U.S. Navy ship docked at Bahrain About 27,000 American troops are deployed at US military bases in numerous Arab countries in the region, including Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, AFP reported.

As the Bahraini government brutally cracks down on the country's pro-democracy protesters, at least 4,000 American troops are stationed there as part of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters.
