Serious DUII Crash Near Wheatland Road Sends Three to Hospital

The curves south of Wheatland Road are often underestimated.

(DAYTON, Ore.) - wheatland crash A 2014 Audi sedan lost control on a corner just south of Wheatland Road and crashed. OSP was called to the scene about 3 am Friday.

Police say the Audi left the roadway and traveled approximately 600 feet along the ditch line. The Audi struck a tree, a power pole and a highway sign coming to rest in the middle of the roadway after rolling several times.

Aborted Nuclear Mission and Murder

Mosier Train Derailment Environmental Cleanup Progressing

Officials say all oil has been "transloaded" from the site.

(MOSIER, Ore.) - Mosier train On June 3, sixteen tanker cars carrying Bakken crude oil derailed, four of those cars caught fire releasing an estimated 42,000 gallons of crude oil into the environment.

The cars were part of a 96-car train carrying Bakken crude oil to Tacoma, Wash.

(SALEM, Ore.) - walmart pharmacy South Salem went dark today just after 4 pm, affecting PGE customers, as well as street lights and retailers by the score, equating to thousands of people affected on this hot summer day.

OSP Urging Transportation Safety For Memorial Day Weekend Travelers

Plan ahead and enjoy your holiday road trips

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon The Oregon State Police is asking persons traveling for the Memorial Day weekend to be prepared for their trip. Memorial Day weekend has historically been a dangerous holiday weekend for travelers as numbers of serious injury and fatal crashes increase during this time.

According to AAA Oregon/Idaho, "AAA projects more than 38 million Americans will travel this Memorial Day weekend. That's the second-highest Memorial Day travel volume on record and the most since 2005."

Depoe Bay Firefighters Extricate Man Trapped in Crashed Car

The victim's vehicle could not be seen from the road.

(DEPOE BAY, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Tuesday morning about 7:30, Depoe Bay Firefighters, Oregon State Police, and Pacific West Ambulance were notified of a man calling from his vehicle that had been involved in a crash.

The vehicle was down an embankment where nobody from the road could have seen him. The caller described that he was able to see a sign that said "South Fogarty Creek". This information lead responders directly to his location.

Minto Island Bridge Arches Begin Arriving in Salem

The tied arch bridge design is expected to be a beautiful addition to the Salem skyscape.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Minto Brown Bridge arches Early Monday morning, while most of the city was sleeping, one of two signature arches for the Peter Courtney Minto Island Bridge arrived in Downtown Salem.

The white arches, which are made from 1-inch thick steel and are 30-inches in diameter, will soon decorate Salem's Downtown Riverfront skyline.

Hillsboro Man Dies in Crash with Log Truck

Fatal Crash on Highway 26 North of Banks

(SALEM, Ore.) - fatal log truck There was a two vehicle crash on Highway 26 near milepost 49 (north of Banks) early Monday morning, about 6:44, resulting in one fatality.

The Chevrolet collided head-on with an eastbound 1993 Peterbilt commercial motor truck towing a trailer loaded with logs.

Highway 97 Crash Takes Four Lives South of Madras

Two others were transported with non-life threatening injuries.

(MADRAS, Ore.) - fatal crash While waiting to make a left turn, an unknown vehicle that had also been traveling northbound on Highway 97 almost rear-ended the Pontiac but passed it on the right shoulder.

Another northbound vehicle, a 2015 Ford van, could not avoid the Pontiac and rear-ended it at highway speeds. This impact forced the Pontiac into the southbound lane of travel where it collided with a southbound 2008 Honda Accord.

Independence Woman Killed In Crash West of Monmouth

Four passengers in the second vehicle were not badly injured.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - fatal crash hwy194 Police say the preliminary investigation revealed a 1997 Dodge Neon was traveling eastbound on Highway 194 (also known as Monmouth Highway) when it crossed the centerline striking a 2006 Dodge pickup head-on.

Witnesses reported observing the Neon driving at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
