(MT. HEBO, Ore.) - Radars at Hebo 66 Mount Hebo rises abruptly to an elevation of 3,176 ft. in the Northern Oregon Coast Range on the border between Tillamook County and Yamhill County.

It's proximity to the Pacific Ocean makes it an outstanding viewpoint and also made it a logical location for an Air Force General Surveillance Radar Station that was active from 1956 to 1980.

Coast Guard Assists Tillamook County Officials Locate Missing Mushroom Picker

The crew passed on the location of the man to the Tillamook County Sherriff’s Department who directed a ground party to the site where they positively identified and recovered Smith

(SEATTLE, Washington) - Salem-News.com The Coast Guard assisted the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Department in locating a missing 73-year-old man near Nehalem, Oregon, Sunday.

Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Oregon, received a report that Lawrence Smith was missing at approximately 4 p.m., and launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew at 4:07 p.m. to conduct a search in the vicinity of Nehalem.

Salem-News Mourns Loss of Cloverdale Businesses in Friday Fire

Tragic as it is, there were no reported injuries, something to be very thankful for.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fire in Cloverdale It was painful to see images last night of the historic town of Cloverdale, Oregon burning. It was like a scene from another time; fire moved quickly from one building to the next. It didn't even spare the fire station itself.

I know one thing, the fire had to be bad, really bad... because the Nestucca Rural Fire District is the best in the west; a band of volunteers as good as any, maybe better.

Coast Guard Responds With Several Agencies to Capsized Vessel

Only two people out of six were wearing their life jackets when the boat rolled over near Manhattan Beach, Oregon.

(MANHATTAN BEACH, Ore.) - Coast Guard Group/Air Station Astoria launched a rescue helicopter crew The Coast Guard, Rockaway Beach, Oregon Police and Fire, the Tillamook Sheriff's department, Nehalem Fire and Tillamook County EMS responded to a report of six people in distress after the 21-foot boat they were in capsized at the entrance to Nehalem Bay, Monday.

Portland Woman Dies From Crash Into Coastal River

Police have identified the victim in a fatal traffic crash on the Little Nestucca Highway, east of Highway 101‏.

(CLOVERDALE, Ore.) - Ms. Russo's vehicle was recovered from the Little Nestucca River
Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation and have identified the victim of a vehicle found on its top Tuesday afternoon in the Little Nestucca River about 3 miles east of Highway 101. The vehicle reportedly drove off Highway 130 where it was spotted in the river.

The victim is identified as 38-year old Charlee Maxine Russo of southeast Portland.

OSP says Tuesday around 3:30 PM, occupants of a school bus reported seeing a vehicle on its top partially submerged in the Little Nestucca River in southern Tillamook County. Emergency responders arriving on scene near milepost 3 confirmed the report as the passenger car was down an approximate 30-foot embankment with an adult female inside.

Republished from one year ago today - Learn the story of ten men who flew their last flight together in 1943, through one that survived.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Salem-News.com I always thought old airplanes were cool, but I became very interested the giant WWII B-17 bombers while researching a historic crash site at Cape Lookout in Tillamook County, Oregon in the early 1990's.

It was sixty five years ago on this date, that this four-engine plane and her crew of 10 U.S. Army aviators were lost in the fog, flying close to the ocean as they tried to find a landmark. The sole survivor of the crash, 2nd Lt. Wilbur Perez, was the plane's bombardier.

Health Advisory Issued for Water Contact at Twin Rocks Beach

Direct contact with the water should be avoided until the advisories are lifted, especially for children and the elderly, who may be more vulnerable to waterborne bacteria.

(TILLAMOOK) - Twin Rocks beach in Tillamook County A public health advisory was issued Wednesday due to higher-than-normal levels of bacteria in ocean waters at Twin Rocks beach in Tillamook County.

Water samples indicate higher-than-normal levels of fecal bacteria, which can result in gastroenteritis, skin rashes, upper respiratory infections and other illnesses.
