(AMARILLO, Texas) - A Texas patient who uses medical marijuana to treat the symptoms of HIV won acquittal on marijuana possession charges March 25 based on a "necessity defense."

Though such a defense - which requires the defendant to establish that an otherwise illegal act was necessary to avoid imminent harm more serious than the harm prevented by the law he or she broke - has rarely been successful in Texas, the jury took just 11 minutes to acquit 53-year old Tim Stevens. The trial was hotly contested.

Amber Alert Issued for Texas Boy

The suspect vehicle is a Volkswagen Jetta with dark tinted windows.

(AUSTIN, Texas) - The Austin Texas Police Department has issued an Amber alert for a boy who they say was kidnapped in North Austin on Thursday morning.

The boy is Adrian Jaimes, a 5-year old Hispanic male. He is about 4 feet tall and weighs about 50 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Adrian was last seen wearing a green jacket, black t-shirt and dark blue pants. He may have a bloody nose from allergies.

Amber Alert Issued for Texas Girl

Authorities say the child was recovered.

(EL PASO, Texas) - The Amber Alert was canceled by the El Paso Police after the girl was found safe on Thursday evening in El Paso.

No information is available on the suspects at this time.

Navy Helicopter Crashes in Texas; 3 Killed

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

(CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas) - A U.S. Navy MH-53E Sea Dragon attached to Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 15 crashed in a field approximately four miles south of Corpus Christi, Texas on Wednesday.

A Navy spokesman says three crew members onboard were killed, and another was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. At the time of the incident, the helo was conducting routine training operations.
