Water pressure was interrupted to approximately 65 homes.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem boil water If you live between Harlandale Estates/Bramble Hills on Barnes Avenue SE Between Stroh Lane SE and Commercial Street SE, this affects you.

At approximately 10:20 p.m., May 25, 2016, a vehicle struck a fire hydrant on Barnes Avenue SE. To mitigate damage caused by water flowing from the broken fire hydrant, maintenance crews had to shut down the water main.

Minto Island Bridge Arches Begin Arriving in Salem

The tied arch bridge design is expected to be a beautiful addition to the Salem skyscape.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Minto Brown Bridge arches Early Monday morning, while most of the city was sleeping, one of two signature arches for the Peter Courtney Minto Island Bridge arrived in Downtown Salem.

The white arches, which are made from 1-inch thick steel and are 30-inches in diameter, will soon decorate Salem's Downtown Riverfront skyline.

Salem Reverberates as Retired Military Plane Flies Over

The Oregon Military says what took Salemites as a military event was in fact just an old plane landing.

(SALEM, Ore.) - AWACS The thundering roar of a huge military plane was heard over south Salem this afternoon, rattling windows and causing not a little intrigue into what this plane was doing here.

According to the Oregon Military Department, it is a civilian aircraft, not a military one. It may be privately owned, or being retired.

STRANGER DANGER: Child Predator at Large in Salem Area

(SALEM, Ore.) - stranger danger A 9-year old child was walking from his residence to a bus stop near the intersection of Stellars Eagle St NW and Bald Eagle NW at about 8:30 am this morning when he was approached by an unknown male adult who grabbed his arm.

The child was able to pull away from the suspect, who then pushed the child to the ground. The child was able to get up and run away as the suspect followed in his vehicle.

Salem Chamber's CEO explains wage increase consequences for Oregon’s small businesses.

(SALEM, Ore.) - oregon minimum wage The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce went on the record with an overwhelming "no" on raising the minimum wage, saying it would continue to vigorously oppose any efforts to artificially raise minimum wage in the state.

In a recent letter to the Senate Workforce and General Government House Business and Labor committees, the Salem Chamber stated its opposition to raising the minimum wage, siting that it placed the cost of a war on poverty on Oregon's small businesses.

The robber walked into the bank, approached the teller desk, demanded money, received money and left.

Salem Police Seeking Assistance in Identifying Robbery Suspect

(SALEM, Ore.) - Surveillance photos The suspect entered the store and walked around for a short time before approaching the pharmacy. He produced a note demanding narcotics and indicated he had a weapon, although no weapon was actually seen.

The suspect is described as a white male adult, wearing a dark colored welder style hat, sunglasses and dark clothing.

Salem Police Participating In Traffic Safety Campaign

Increased awareness is important all year long.

(SALEM, Ore.) - safety first The Salem Police Department is participating in the third of three traffic enforcement campaigns. The campaign began on August 24 and will run through September 6.

The increased patrols are during the daylight hours for the purpose of enforcing seatbelt, child restraint violations and cell phone use.
