Speeding Driver Arrested for Possession of Several Types of Illegal Drugs

Police say that up to eight different illegal substances were located after the 19-year old consented to a search of her car.

(SALEM) - A construction zone speed-related traffic stop early Friday morning on Interstate 5 in Salem led to the arrest of a 19-year old Roseburg woman on numerous drug charges.

The arrest came after an Oregon State Police trooper and his trained drug dog "Reggie" located several different types of illegal drugs and cash in the car.

Friday morning at approximately 1:15 AM, Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Joseph Delgreco stopped a northbound 2003 Volkswagon Jetta on Interstate 5 near milepost 256, for traveling 78 mph in a 50 mph work zone area.

Driver Cited After Crashing Into Unoccupied State Police Car South of Roseburg

A recruit officer is narrowly missed by a pick-up while investigating two other crashes in I-5.

(ROSEBURG) - An Oregon State Police recruit trooper escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when his unoccupied patrol car was struck by a pickup as he was investigating two non-injury traffic crashes on Interstate 5 south of Roseburg.

Investigators say the pickup's driver was cited on multiple traffic violations and the OSP patrol car was extensively damaged.

Tuesday at approximately 3:38 PM, Oregon State Police Recruit Brian Assmus was outside of his Ford Crown Victoria patrol car investigating two non-injury crashes southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 116. The patrol car was parked on the right shoulder of the freeway.

Concerned Driver Calls in DUII, Police Say it Makes a Difference on Holiday Weekend

Oregon State Police praised a cell caller's involvement as an example of how citizens can help keep our highways safe this holiday weekend.

(ROSEBURG) - A citizen's call on a cell phone to report a dangerous driver led to a DUII arrest east of Roseburg Friday, it was the fourth this weekend, which technically hadn't started yet.

Friday at about 10:50 AM, a citizen called the local OSP office on a cellphone to say they were behind a vehicle that was driving in an erratic manner.

Based on the information provided by the citizen, Trooper Teresa Bloom of the OSP Roseburg Area Command spotted the vehicle about 15 minutes later on Highway 138E near milepost 4 and stopped it. The contact led to the driver's arrest for DUII.

Fuel Truck Tanker Fire Shuts Down I-5 South of Roseburg

(ROSEBURG) - Crash scene Photo Courtesy: OSP State troopers say a truck driver received minor injuries after the fuel truck he was driving struck a guardrail and caught fire on Interstate 5 about one mile south of Winston. The fire led to the closure of Interstate 5 in both directions until about 8:00 AM when one northbound lane was reopened. Southbound lanes remained closed for several hours.
