The man who saved the world from thermonuclear annihilation in 1962 was born on January 30, 1926.

Arkhipov was a Soviet submarine officer who prevented a Soviet nuclear strike against U.S. surface warships during that very crisis in 1962.

Protesters Demand New Investigation into Death of Jacklynn Ford

(SALEM, Ore. ) - About a dozen protesters took to the streets of downtown Salem Friday afternoon, demanding that a new investigation begin in the death of 25-year Jacklynn Rashaun Ford.

Ford was shot on Friday May 9, after 12-year veteran Salem police officer Trevor Morrison, made a traffic stop on a vehicle on Watson Ave NE near Alameda St NE at approximately 10:07 p.m.

After a casual afternoon spent at the Eugene Saturday Market, Terance Walsh was leaving with us for a journey northward. Before we could get to our car, we turned when we heard some hoots and hollers which gained in decibels as a large group of oncoming bicyclists drew closer.

And what to our wondering eyes did appear? Naked people. Dozens of very naked people, riding bikes down the streets of Eugene.

Tamils Should Protest Against UN, Demand Referendum: May 17 Movement
