ODOT Launches Real Time Traffic Information in Portland Area

National studies show that advisory speed signs have reduced overall crashes by 20 percent, reduced rear-end collisions by 30 percent and reduced secondary crashes by 40 percent.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Portland Oregon Traffic On Thursday, ODOT launched the first in a series of projects that use new technologies to improve safety, reduce secondary crashes and provide travelers with information to help them safely get to where they are going.

The ODOT RealTime systems employ sensors in and along the roads that will accurately convey travel times to motorists and establish advisory speed limits that will tell motorists to slow down for a crash, stall or other delay in the road ahead.

Another Home in Portland Damaged by Fireworks

A firework, "legal" in Oregon state, had been lit by a 13-year-old boy on the second floor of the home.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Portland Fireworks Portland firefighters once again had to respond to a house fire caused by fireworks.

At 1:42 p.m. on Wednesday, a neighbor of 6022 NE Failing reported that there was fire and smoke that could be seen from a second story window. When fire crews arrived they found the upper level of a two story home at the above address was fully involved with fire.

Portland Police Seek Tips About Gang Related Shooting

26-year-old Hahrahcio Roy Branch was transported to a Portland hospital where he later died from his injuries.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Hahrahcio Roy Branch The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help in solving a gang-related shooting that killed one man and injured four others.

On Saturday July 5, at 3:14 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting outside Soobie's Bar & Grill Strip Club, located at 333 Southeast 122nd Avenue.

Illegal Aerial Fireworks Destroy Portland Home

Between 2009 and 2013 fireworks caused more than 150 injuries in Oregon alone.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Portland House Fire Illegal fireworks are to blame for a late evening fire that destroyed a Southeast Portland home Friday night.

Fire Investigator Rob Garrison arrived at the scene early into the firefight and could see that an aerial firework had landed on the rear porch awning.

One victim died late this morning from his injuries.

More Cougar Sightings in Portland; One Caught in Tree

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says if you come across a cougar in your neighborhood, do not approach it.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Oregon Cougar Police in Portland along with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife responded Friday afternoon to multiple reports of a cougar in a tree in the neighborhood of Northeast 121st and Northeast Stanton Street.

Police have closed off the area as ODFW officials deal with the animal. Portland police say there were three other calls Friday about Cougar sightings if different parts of the city.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Portland Meadows Horse Racing As a result of numerous discussions with the stakeholders in the horse racing industry, a move back to an October start date has been chosen to maximize the horse population available to Portland Meadows.

The 2014-2015 race meet will cover 36 live race dates -- pending Oregon Racing Commission approval -- with racing on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons.

According to family, this behavior is very out of character and they are concerned for his welfare.

O'Malley left his home in the 11400 block of Southwest Oak Creek Drive in the Arnold Creek neighborhood on a walk on Sunday afternoon and never returned.

The FBI is looking for Julia Haner, who was a cheerleader at Lake Oswego High School helped recruit a 17-year-old to work as a prostitute in February.

FBI, Police in Oregon Target Child Sex Trafficking Operations

Many of the adults had been trafficked since they were 13 or 14 years old.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - child sex trafficking The FBI, local law enforcement partners and victim service agencies from throughout the region joined forces to launch multi-day undercover operations targeting child sex trafficking operations in the Portland metro and Eugene areas.

These operations, which ran June 18th - June 22nd, resulted in the recovery of one minor child and the identification of 20 adult prostitutes.

Many of the adults had been trafficked since they were 13 or 14 years old.
