Pursuit from Benton County to Polk County Stopped by Spike Strip Deployment

This incident was a great indicator of how well Law Enforcement jurisdictions from multiple agencies work together to protect the public from danger.

(DALLAS) - Vehicle in chase that spanned Benton and Polk County Oregon 5-1-14 On 5-1-2014 at about 6:00 p.m. the Benton County Sheriff's Office contacted the Polk County Sheriff's Office to request assistance with a pursuit that began in the city of Corvallis.

Units were advised that a whi te 2000 Subaru bearing Oregon Plates YPV051 had eluded Corvallis PD and was involved in a hit & run accident during the pursuit in their city.

Update: Names Released - Double Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 22 west of Dallas in Polk County

OSP troopers from the Salem and McMinnville offices are investigating along with collision reconstructionists from OSP and Keizer Police Department.

(DALLAS) - Fatal crash Hwy 22 Oregon 4-4-14 Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of Polk County District Attorney's Office and Keizer Police Department, are continuing the investigation into the cause of a Friday evening two vehicle double fatal traffic crash along Highway 22 about three miles west of Dallas.

The crash resulted in the death of two males and serious injuries to another male and a female.

Polk County Sheriff Makes Additional Reductions

The Polk County Budget Committee meets next week to work on the 2014-2015 budget which begins on July 1, 2014.

(DALLAS) - Polk County Sheriff's Office car Polk County Sheriff Bob Wolfe announced additional reductions in patrol hours from 20 hours a day to 10 hours a day due to budget and staffing reductions.

"My overtime budget is less than 6% for the remainder of this budget cycle which ends in June and I have received notification from another deputy who has accepted a conditional job offer making this the fourth deputy to leave in the last two months" stated Sheriff Bob Wolfe.

Liberty House Hires New Director

(SALEM) - Alison Kelley The Liberty House Board of Directors has hired Alison Kelley to become its new Chief Executive Officer. Kelley will step down from her current position as the Marion County Community Services Director on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, and will begin her new role with Liberty House on Wednesday, September 4, 2013.

Liberty House is a child abuse assessment center serving both Marion and Polk Counties.

Polk County Sheriff Announces Staff Reductions

Between March 11, 2013 and April 15, 2013, during the non coverage hours there have been 56 non-emergency calls which were not responded too.

The following employees have accepted positions with other local law enforcement agencies, and one announced their retirement.

Burglary Suspect Found Deceased

Evidence shows the man was driving away from the scene and died of an accidental, self inflicted gun shot wound from the rifle he had just taken.

(INDEPENDENCE, OR) - Death investigation Shortly before 10:00 am on Sunday Polk County deputies responded to the report of a gunshot victim in a vehicle on farmland outside of Independence.

They found the male subject to be deceased with indications that death had occurred well before the reporting party discovered the vehicle.

Update on Weekend Shooting Involving Two Police Officers and Suspect

All three were injured During Saturday night shooting in Benton County.

(CORVALLIS, OR) - Police shooting near Indepencence, Oregon 11 August 2012 Police are continuing their investigation into Saturday night's shooting of a Benton County Sheriff's Office sergeant, a Salem Police Department corporal, and an adult male.

The shooting followed an attempt to elude law enforcement about 2 miles north of Adair Park just south of the Benton/Polk County line.

Body of Buena Vista Man Recovered from Willamette River

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore.) - Body of Marvin Studel recovered from the Willamette River A body was pulled from the Willamette River at Buena Vista Saturday afternoon. Officials say the deceased man was later identified as 63-year old Marvin Leonard Studer, a resident of the Buena Vista area.

Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies got the call around 2:30 p.m. and responded to the reported sighting of a body floating in the Willamette River. Buena Vista is an unincorporated area of Polk County south of Independence, Oregon.

Dallas Man Missing on Willamette River

(Dallas, Oregon) - Salem-News.com Today at approximately 11:52 am the Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to a water rescue call on the Willamette River approximately one mile south of the Buena Vista Ferry. Also on scene during the initial response were Marion County Sheriff's Office, Salem Fire, Polk 1 Fire, Jefferson Fire, Albany Fire and the Oregon State Police.
