Beavers Mannion Named to O’Brien Watch List

In 2013, Mannion set the league’s single season passing record with 4,662 yards and a school-record with 37 touchdown tosses.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State senior quarterback Sean Mannion has been named to the 2014 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List, released Wednesday by the Davey O’Brien Foundation. Mannion is one of 39 signal callers on the initial list.

Mannion, who has 32 career starts to his credit, has rewritten the Oregon State and Pac-12 Conference record books.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State wide receiver Richard Mullaney has been named to the 2014 Biletnikoff Award Watch List, released Tuesday by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc.

Mullaney, a native of Thousand Oaks, Calif., enjoyed a breakout year as a sophomore in 2013 starting at split end opposite last season’s Biletnikoff Award winner, Brandin Cooks.

Oregon State, which finished the season ranked 25th in the nation, is coming off a record-setting season in 2013-14.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - The FIBA U20 European Championship for Women wrapped up on Sunday and featured some noteworthy performances from Oregon State incoming freshman Marie Gülich and sophomore Gabriella Hanson.

Hanson and Sweden went 3-6 at the Division A tournament in Udine, Italy, placing 15th. Gülich dominated inside at the Euro ‘B’ Championships and led Germany in points and blocks.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Nuclear engineers at Oregon State University have developed a small, portable and inexpensive radiation detection device that should help people all over the world better understand the radiation around them, its type and intensity, and whether or not it poses a health risk.


The device was developed in part due to public demand following the nuclear incident in Fukushima, Japan, in 2011, when many regional residents were unsure what level of radiation they were being exposed to and whether their homes, food, environment and drinking water were safe

Oregon State CB Nelson on Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List

Steven Nelson, who transferred to Oregon State in 2013, earned a starting spot five games into last season.

(CORVALLIS, Ore ) - Oregon State cornerback Steven Nelson has been named to the 2014 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, released Thursday by the Football Writers Association of America.

Nelson is among 17 players from the Pac-12 Conference and 81 overall nominated for the best defensive player in America.

Oregon State Freshman Qualifies for U.S. Amateur Championship

Andrej Bevins, a rising sophomore at the University of New Mexico, won the qualifier with a 9-under 65-68--133.

(CHICO, Calif. ) - Incoming Oregon State men’s golfer Tyler Collier qualified for the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship by advancing through a sectional qualifying tournament at the Butte Creek Country Club in Chico, Calif., on Tuesday.

Collier shot a pair of 2-under 69’s at the qualifier to tie him for second place with two golfers through the 36 holes of stroke play.

Former Oregon State Trio to Play in NBA Summer League

NBA TV will televise all 67 games, including a total of 38 games live during the event, including the Championship Game on July 21.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Former Oregon State men’s basketball standouts Jared Cunningham, Eric Moreland and Roberto Nelson will compete at the 2014 Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nev., from Friday, July 11 to Monday, July 21 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion.

Cunningham and Moreland will both play for Sacramento, while Nelson will suit up for Charlotte.

Former OSU Soccer Players Win Pac-12 Medals

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Former Oregon State soccer standouts Josh Smith and Jenna Richardson were honored as 2013-14 Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medal Winners.

A Pac-12 Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution’s outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

Beavers Andrew Moore Makes Final U.S. Roster

Moore is also the eighth Oregon State player to don the red, white and blue for the Collegiate National Team.

(CARY, N.C..) - Andrew Moore is one of 24 players who will comprise the final 2014 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team roster, it was announced on Monday.

The squad will be comprised of 12 pitchers and 12 position players, and Moore, who pitched in five innings during the team’s training camps, is one of three players from the Pac-12 Conference on the club.
