Health Advisory Issued for Lincoln City Beach

The advisory issued for water contact at D River State Park Beach.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - Lincoln City's D River A public health advisory was issued Wednesday due to higher-than-normal levels of bacteria in ocean waters at D River State Park Beach in Lincoln County.

Increased pathogen and fecal bacteria levels in ocean waters can come from both shore and inland sources such as storm water runoff, sewer overflows, failing septic systems and even animal waste from livestock, pets and wildlife.

Oregon State Police Marijuana Bust Nets Three Pounds

One man was also arrested for cocaine possession.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - marijuana seized in Tillamook, Oregon, 9-21-07 Oregon State Police say three pounds of marijuana were seized during a traffic stop last Thursday. Three Vancouver-area were arrested as well on drug-related charges, following the traffic stop on Highway 6 about eight miles east of Tillamook when over 3 pounds of marijuana was discovered in their vehicle.

OSP Spokesman Lt. Greg Hastings, says the news of this arrest was delayed because police needed to attain a search warrant and conduct follow up investigation, and to ensure the release of this did not conflict with any other agency investigations.

Oregon Guard F-15 Accident Report Released

Friends and associates of Major Greg Young say he is sorely missed.

(LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va.) - F-15s in flight A pilot's spatial disorientation during an air combat training mission caused an F-15A to crash approximately 42 nautical miles west of Arch Cape, Oregon, in the Pacific Ocean on June 26th, 2007, Air Force officials announced today.

The pilot of the aircraft, Major Greg Young, died immediately on impact and was the only crewmember aboard the single-seat F-15A. The mishap occurred during a dissimilar air combat training mission with F/A-18s from Naval Air Station Fort Worth, Texas.

Health Advisory Lifted for Water Contact at Cannon Beach

Subsequent testing showed the contamination had subsided and the waters did not pose a higher-than-normal risk associated with water-contact activities.

(CANNON BEACH, Ore.) - Cannon Beach, Oregon A health advisory for contact with marine water at Cannon Beach in Clatsop County was lifted today by the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS), in conjunction with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.

The advisory was issued Wednesday, after water samples at Cannon Beach showed higher-than-normal levels of enterococcus, a type of fecal bacteria, in the marine water.

Coast Guard Airlifts Air Force Member Near Tillamook Bay

The Air Force was conducting the water survival training in life rafts at the time of the incident.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore. ) - coast guard helicopter A Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew airlifted an Air Force member yesterday after he developed a medical condition during a water survival exercise 1.5 miles west of Tillamook Bay, Ore.

The member was transferred from a raft and onto a nearby 47-foot motor lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay at 12:15 PM.

Minutes later, the member was hoisted from the motor lifeboat to an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Ore.
