National Project Leads to Dramatic Reduction in Food Waste at Linfield College

(McMinnville, Oregon) - Pioneer Hall - Linfield College 1882 Colleges like to talk about going green, but dining hall waste leaves some budget columns in the red. Linfield is working to change that. A lot of food that ends up on college campuses is grown, transported, prepared — and thrown out.

A tracking study at Linfield College, part of a pilot project at eight U.S. schools, has led to a dramatic reduction in kitchen food waste. Employees at participating schools reduced the amount of food going to the landfill by about one third, simply by tracking and monitoring waste before it even makes it onto the students’ trays.

McMinnville High School Campuses Burglarized - One Suspect Arrested

Vandalism and burglary are two of many pending offenses.

(McMinnville, Oregon) - Broken Window McMInnville High School McMinnville Officers responded to burglary reports at McMinnville High School at 615 NE Evans Street and the Media, Arts, and Communication Academy (MACA) at 1330 NE Cowls Street early this morning.

Surveillance video indicated the burglaries were committed by two males and that they started at 0200 this morning.

Concordia Survives Linfield Comeback with 72-67 Win

(Portland, Oregon) - Concordia University Athletics Linfield pulled within three after trailing by 15 early in the second half, but Concordia held on for a 72-67 victory Tuesday night at Cavalier Gymnasium.

Concordia’s third straight win improves the Cavaliers’ record to 3-3 for the season. Linfield falls to 0-1.

Linfield Defeats Bearcats, 2-0, in NWC Men`s Soccer Battle

(McMinnville, Oregon) -  Linfield College Wildcats The statistics for the two teams were nearly even, but Linfield College found a way to produce two goals as the Wildcats defeated Willamette University, 2-0, on Saturday, Nov. 6. Both teams took 14 shots during the game, and Willamette held a slim 10-9 edge in shots on goal. Each squad earned three corner kicks.

Linfield improved to 8-9-1 overall, including 7-7 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette concluded its season with a record of 3-13-3, 1-11-2 in the NWC.

(NEWBERG, Oregon) - George Fox University Color Bruin Bear Logo Northwest Conference scoring leader Emily Fellows of Linfield College tied the game with a goal 30 seconds from the end of regulation, then the Wildcats and the George Fox University Bruins battled through two overtimes to a 2-2 women’s soccer draw Friday afternoon here at the Austin Sports Complex.

Willamette Competes at Northwest Conference Relays

(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Willamette Bearcats The Willamette University men's and women's swimming teams participated in the Northwest Conference Relays on Saturday. The meet, which was hosted by Linfield College, featured men's relay events, women's relay events and mixed relay events.

Whitworth University won the men's team standings, the women's team standings and the overall standings. The Pirates scored 80 points in the men's relays and tallied 76 points in the women's relays. Whitworth achieved an overall total of 186 points.

Four in McMinnville Arrested for Forcing Two Kids to Fight

The fight video was posted on Facebook

(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Michael Dale Chandler - Sara Michelle Nisenfeld Earlier this month McMinnville Officers received a call from an out-of- state complainant. The caller was concerned about a fight video posted on Facebook. The caller thought the incident had occurred in McMinnville.

The video showed two nine year old boys violently fighting while several adult voices encouraged them to continue attacking each other.
