Police: Missing Salem Teen`s Own Parents Pose Danger to Her

The missing teen fled from a foster home on August 13, she has not been in contact with her relatives, and her whereabouts are currently unknown.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Bethany Desanto Salem Police are asking for the public's help in locating a missing 15-year-old girl who's own parents police say may pose a danger to her.

Salem Police spokesman Lt. Dave Okada says on August 12, Bethany Desanto was contacted by a Salem Police Officer when she was found living with her homeless mother in Minto Brown Island Park.

Oregon Woman Arrested for Leaving Dog Inside Hot Car

A Marion County Sheriff's Deputy took the dog to his patrol car, turned up the air conditioning, and gave the dog some much needed water.

(SILVERTON, Ore. ) - Oregon Dog Hot Car A Beaverton woman was cited and released after leaving her dog locked in a vehicle while she went hiking at Silver Creek Falls State Park, east of Salem.

On Sunday, Marion County Sheriff's Deputies were called out to the park, and found the dog in the vehicle unresponsive and panting due to the 90 degree heat outside.

Police on Alert Between Salem and Independence After Road Rage Reports

The incidents occurred between July 31st and August 4th in the area of South River Road near Orville Road and the bridge entering Independence.

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore. ) - police lights The Independence Police Department and Marion County Sheriff's office are looking into reports from different motorists of road rage and aggressive driving.

One of the reports indicates two vehicles appearing to be acting together. They were parked waiting on the side of the road for another motorist to come by.

Marion County Sheriff`s Office Joins Forces with Project Lifesaver

Eligible individuals who are enrolled in PLI wear a small personal transmitter around the wrist or ankle that emits an individualized tracking signal.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Marion County Sheriff The Marion County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce that it's joining forces with Project Lifesaver International, a non-profit agency that bridges the technological gap for medically "at risk" populations and public safety agencies.

PLI provides deputies, fire/rescue and other first responders with equipment and training to quickly locate and rescue individuals with cognitive disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, Autism, and Down syndrome, who are at constant risk to wander.

Woman, Boyfriend, and Dog Rescued After Fall in Rural Marion County

"We just ask that people stay on the regular groomed trails," said Sergeant Shane Burnham with the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

(MILL CITY, Ore. ) - Oregon Army National Guard Rescue crews spent two hours Saturday afternoon saving three hikers in the Opal Creek Wilderness, one of which sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted out of the area, and was taken Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

Marion County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sergeant Chris Baldridge says around 3:00 p.m., deputies were flagged down and rushed to the scene where a hiker who had fallen thirty feet after her rope broke. The trio was making their way down to a pool of water on a steep decline.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Rodney Allen Tishmack The Marion County Sheriff's Office has captured the man wanted in connection with a residential burglary Monday near Seminole Road NE and Mustang Road NE.

Rodney Allen Tishmack was arrested Tuesday afternoon after being seen by a local resident exiting a barn.

Three Teens Found Safe after Opal Creek Hiking Trip

All three boys are healthy and uninjured.

(LYONS, Ore) - Opal Creek Three teens who went out on a hiking trip Saturday in the Opal Creek Wilderness area east of Salem, are now safe and back with family members.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team tells Salem-News.com that the three boys decided it was too dark out and decided to stay the night and walkout in the morning light.

Suspicious Package Turns Out to be Pot of Bean Soup

After sealing the area off, deputies called experts with the Oregon State Police Bomb Squad who responded and opened the pot.

(WOODBURN, Ore. ) - Bean Soup Pot Marion County Sheriff's Deputies and the Oregon State Police would like to remind residents to properly dispose of their household garbage after an incident that required police to call in the bomb squad.

Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Sergeant Chris Baldridge says deputies were called out to the report of a suspicious package of Front Street near Crosby Road, north of Salem at 10:45 a.m. Saturday.

Suspect Pulls Gun on Salem Target Store Employees

Do not attempt to contact the suspect he is believed to be armed and dangerous.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Target Suspect Marion County Sheriff's detectives are seeking the public help in locating a suspect who they say pulled a firearm on security officers after a theft at the Salem Target store on Center Street, Monday afternoon.

Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Sergeant Chris Baldridge says the suspect is a white male, in his 30's, approximately 6'3, 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Teenage Girl from Silverton Killed in Accident Near Salem

It is unknown at this time if speeds or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Brittany Perry Crash A 17-year-old girl from Silverton has died, following an accident Sunday morning after her vehicle slammed into a tree on Hazelgreen road about five miles east of Salem.

Marion County Sheriff spokesman Sergeant Jeff Stutrud says the driver, Brittany Perry, was taken to the Salem Hospital where she was treated and ultimately died.
