War and PTSD: A Discussion Regarding the Documentary (VIDEO)

Viewers learn more about our upcoming documentary that will help countless thousands of U.S. combat vets.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Dr. Phil Leveque and Bonnie King The first time we produced a television documentary the project was for Oregon Public Broadcasting, the year was 1993, and the subject was the story of the sole survivor of the WWII B-17 bomber crash on Cape Lookout in Oregon.

Now we are engaged in the production of a documentary about a huge subject: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is a condition experienced by people who survive any range of traumatic events, and combat heads the list of reasons that people end up living with PTSD.

IED`s Blamed in at Least Half of Latest Iraq and Afghanistan War Casualties

Four of the 12 died in circumstances that were not combat-related. 6 Army soldiers were killed in explosions stemming from improvised explosive devices or 'IED's'.

This latest report is the third that we have issued so far in June, and includes one person who died aboard a Navy ship on the North Arabian Sea whose death was not combat-related. Seven of the casualties were in Afghanistan and four were in Iraq.

Burr Presses on Camp Lejeune Water Contamination at Hearing

Burr questions Navy on NAS report.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - U.S. Senator Richard Burr (R-North Carolina) Today, the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support held a hearing on military construction and environmental initiatives.

U.S. Senator Richard Burr (R-North Carolina), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee, raised concerns about the recent National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report on water contamination at Camp Lejeune and pressed the Navy for answers.

“It’s clear that the water at Camp Lejeune was contaminated by a number of hazardous chemicals at unsafe levels,” Senator Burr said.

Hagan Jumps in the Ring for Marines

A North Carolina senator isn't buying the government's quick and easy attempt to discredit data proving Marines are sick and dying from trichloroethylene contamination at Camp Lejeune.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - US Senator Kay R. Hagan (D-NC) US Senator Kay R. Hagan (D-NC) issued the following statement reacting to a new National Academy of Sciences (NAS) study on water contamination at Camp Lejeune.

The study, released Saturday, concludes that while there was water contamination at the Jacksonville Marine base, additional research is “unlikely to determine conclusively whether Camp Lejeune residents were adversely affected by exposure to water contaminants.”

National Research Council on TCE Kicks U.S. Marines to the Curb

It isn't the first time Marines have been thoroughly screwed by the government, but this might rate as one of our politician's most shameful moves.

(CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C.) - Salem-News.com The U.S. government is placing its boot straight up the backside of the nation's most esteemed warriors - U.S. Marines, by suddenly abandoning data that proved Uncle Sam polluted bases with toxic and deadly chlorine-based chemical degreasers.

Thousands of Marines who served at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina are sick or dead from contact with Trichloroethylene (TCE) and Perchloroethylene (PCE) that was mostly supplied by Dow Chemical, and found its way into the base's water supply.

Remembering Bloody Tarawa

Leon Cooper, former Navy Ensign and amphibian boat commander, not only remembers the battle in November 1943, but is now fighting to clean-up the battlefield to make it a fit memorial for thousands who died there.

(Somerdale, N.J.) - Marines at Bloody Tarawa Garbage now litters the beaches on Betio Island in the Tarawa atoll, one of the bloodiest battles fought by Marines in WW II.

The first amphibious assault against fortified positions in the Pacific War, it would serve as a model and lessons learned for future assaults. The 2nd Marine Division paid the price for the lessons.

Nineteen Marine Raiders Who Finally Came Home

They say the Marines always recover their dead.

(MAKIN ISLAND) - Marine C-130 aircraft used to recover the Marines from Makin. In 1999, U.S. government officials recovered the bodies of 19 Marine Raiders who were killed fighting on Makin Island in August, 1942. With the help of a local islander who actually remembered the Marine landing, they were finally recovered and brought home, almost six decades later.

EPA Superfunds: Veterans at Risk

Veterans and their dependents are unaware of the risk of exposure to contaminants and health effects for bases on the EPA National Priority List (Superfund).

(SOMERDALE, N.J.) - El Toro flightline The Pentagon owns 133 Superfund sites, the most of any organization.

Veterans and dependents were exposed to contaminants at these sites, including carcinogens like TCE, PCE, benzene and radiation.

TCE/PCE Petition Drive Needs Veteran`s Support

The Marine Corps Times reported 22 military bases with contaminated TCE water in June 2007.

(GARDEN GROVE, Calif.) - El Toro hangar in the summer of 2008 The Veterans for Change (VFC), a proactive veteran service organization, drafted a petition to Congress in February 2009 for legislation to include exposure to trichloroethylene (TCE) and tetrachloroethylene (PCE) for military bases contaminated with these toxic chemicals under the VA's Presumptive Disability category.
