Open Letter Encourages Sanity in Sentencing of California Medical Marijuana Dispensary Owner

Forward by Salem-News.com's Tim King.

(LOS ANGELES, Calif.) - Charles Lynch Veteran American marijuana activist Ed Rosenthal has drafted a letter he hopes will have an effect on the outcome of the sentencing of a California medical marijuana dispensary owner. Charles Lynch was in the opinion of thousands, possibly millions of Americans, completely railroaded by an overzealous California sheriff; one who overstepped his own boundaries countless times in the case.

The most basic information about California state law allowing medical marijuana use was disqualified because Charles Lynch was convicted on a federal level, and the United States government clearly, more than ever, does not respect the rights of states in a legal manner.

Southland Sizzles on NBC But Lacks Realism

One utterly unrealistic scene is complimented by more believable portrayals of gangland LA, aka the "Southland" - a term used regularly by LA news anchors.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Southland tv show cast The new NBC police drama "Southland" debuted last week, and I have to admit I was looking forward to it.

The new show by the creators of "ER" definitely was a fast moving and exciting crime drama that I expect will be around for a long time. Well-written and at times unrealistic, it is typical Hollywood but more edgy and never slow.

Fire Threatens Thousands in Southern California (VIDEOS)

Wind driven fires are sending local residents from Oceanside and Los Angeles into evacuation centers.

(LOS ANGELES) - California's Governor is briefed earlier today on the status of the Marek Fire and firefighting efforts statewide. Photo: California Governor's Office Firefighters in Southern California should get a break from nature Tuesday night and Wednesday as the winds continue to shut down.

The predicted weakening will not be enough of a change though, according to state fire officials. They say the wind flow will remain offshore through Wednesday, and that will keep the area very dry.

Almost without exception, California wildfires break out simultaneously, sending fire crews in many directions. This series of fires falls right in line with the pattern and involves substantial portions of Southern California.

An extremely angry employee of the dispensary compared the DEA raid to being "robbed by a bunch of thugs downtown."

(LOS ANGELES) - Are members of a disputed mercenary killer group now working with the DEA?
