Schneiders Fate in the Hands of the Jury

The verdict could come down very soon.
(WICHITA, Kansas) -
After 8 weeks of emotional testimony, the pill mill trial of former doctor Stephen Schneider and his nurse wife, Linda Schneider has been handed over to the jury for deliberation beginning Wednesday morning.
Schneider has been referred to as the "Candy Man" and his former clinic as the "Burger King for pain pill addicts" with reports of overdosing and deaths of patients.

The Care2 Petition site already has almost ten thousand signatures in their effort to aid a man named Walter, who came to the United States when he was just three years old.
At 23, Walter was nabbed by federal authorities and held in a detention facility for nearly three weeks. Now he faces deportation.

U.S. District Judge Monti Belot expects to send the Schneider case to the jury next Tuesday.
The jury is down to 11 people after another juror was discharged this week. Both the prosecution and defense have agreed that 11 jurors can decide the fate of the Schneiders.

A former police chief, a firefighter, a truck driver and a mother were among witnesses testifying on behalf of Stephen Schneider this past week during the 6th week of trial.
Schneider, a former Haysville doctor, and his wife, a nurse, are on trial on federal charges stemming from their practices of prescribing painkillers leading to patients deaths.
