Wyoming Rollover Accident Kills Two, Injures Three From Jefferson

Troopers in Wyoming said a van carrying the Jefferson residents began swerving and went into the median, then rolled over three times.

(ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo.) - Fatal crash OTS A man and a child from Jefferson were killed Thursday when a van rolled over on Interstate 80 about 35 miles east of Rock Springs, Wyoming.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says all five were in a 2005 Toyota van that was eastbound on I-80.

When the van drifted onto the left shoulder, 69-year-old Lyle Adams, of Jefferson, grabbed the steering wheel.

Semi-Truck Fire on I-5 Shuts Traffic Down at Milepost 246 Near Jefferson.

Both lanes of I-5 southbound were closed for over an hour.

(JEFFERSON) - Semi-truck fire Jefferson Firefighters responded to a semi-truck fire, on I-5 southbound just before the N. Jefferson Exit at milepost 246. The fire tied up southbound traffic during the early morning commute.

The truck, owned by Dynamic Distribution, was headed to Grants Pass with a load of frozen, deli, and dry food that eventually was headed for distribution to Cash & Carry outlets in Northern California.

Family of Five Rescued From the Santiam River Near Jefferson

Jefferson firefighters worked in a joint operation with Albany Fire crews to deliver the family to safety.

(JEFFERSON) - Jefferson Fire logo Fire crews rescued a family of five that became stranded near the confluence of the North and South Santiam Rivers east of Jefferson at approximately 6:30 PM Tuesday evening.

Jefferson Fire District Spokesperson Elaine Parrott says Water Rescue personnel were called to assist the stranded party who ended up on a rock bar after their five inner tubes, tied together, became tangled in a tree snag.

All family members, 41-year old Frank Furnish, 38-year old Teresa Furnish, their two daughters 8 & 11, and son 7, were wearing life jackets.

Annual Emergency Services Expo Saturday in Jefferson

This year's event is full of activities and displays for all ages with over 50 presenters and displays.

(JEFFERSON) - Several Jefferson Fire related The 12th Annual Emergency Services Expo will be held on Saturday, from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM at the Jefferson High School grounds behind the stadium.

Activities include junior firefighter games, residential fire sprinkler demonstrations, "Safe Kids" games, fire safety house, as well as displays by the Forest Fire Lookout Association, Marion County Emergency Management, Fraud Awareness, and car seat safety.

Attendees can pose for a picture with Smokey Bear, Fire Pup as well as the Crash Dummies, Vince and Larry.

Six-Car Crash Sends Four People to Local Hospitals

(JEFFERSON) - Salem-News.com crash investigation graphic Jefferson Firefighters were called to a six-car motor vehicle crash that sent four patients to local hospitals Monday afternoon at approximately 2:15 PM.

The accident occurred on Northbound I-5 near Milepost 243 which is near the Ankeny Hill exit. A Toyota pick-up that was hauling a sand rail jackknifed, causing a chain reaction of accidents.

The right lane of NB I-5 was closed for approximately 30-minutes which tied up Labor Day traffic for hours. One of the four patients had to be extricated.

Husband And Wife Lose Their Home in Fire

The Jefferson Volunteer Firefighter Association made a cash donation from their burn out fund to the Huebners' since this was designated as their home.

(JEFFERSON) - Motor home fire in Salem, Oregon Jefferson Firefighters were called to a motorhome on fire at the northbound Santiam Rest Area on Interstate-5 near mile marker 241 at approximately 5:50 PM Monday.

Witnesses say the fire was already visible from the motor home's roof when 9-1-1 was called.

Jefferson fire spokeswoman Elaine Parrott says the 1998 40-foot Safari Serengeti Edition motor home is a total loss according to the owners, 76-year-old Robert and 62-year old Carol Heubner of Aloha.

Wind Gust Causes Tree to Crash Through Roof

(Jefferson) - A tree crashed through this living room ceiling in Jefferson. Photo Courtesy: Jefferson Fire Jefferson Firefighters were called to 747 N. Sunrise at 8:39 last night where a tree fell on a house. A 60' tree snapped about 20' above ground due to a gust of wind. The tree went through the roof a single-wide mobile home living room.
