NorthEast Tamils Still Under Military Rule

"Despite Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe’s claim of progress on reconciliation, the Tamil people of the North and East continue to be subjected to violence even after the end of the war" - TNA Statement

(COLOMBO, Sri Lanka) - Tamils under continuing military rule in Sri Lanka Leader of the Tamil National Alliance, R.Sampanthan, says “government’s approach to reconciliation has been predicated on building trust and amity between communities."

TNA retorted that the experience of the Tamil people does not support this claim and that “Tamil people of the North and East continue to be subjected to violence even after the end of the war.”

(BEIJING PTI ) - China and Lanka flags China today assured its support to Sri Lanka to safeguard its sovereignty as the country gears up to face pressure at the forthcoming UN Human Rights Council meeting for a credible international probe into charges of humanitarian crimes during the war against LTTE.

The assurance was given by top Chinese leader Wu Bangguo during his meeting with visiting Lankan Prime Minister D M Jayaratne, on the sidelines of the 15th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) at Chinese city of Xiamen.
