(SALEM, OR) - This week, the Republican-led Judiciary Committee in the House of Representatives passed an immigration bill inappropriately named the “SAFE Act.”

It would make the presence of immigrants in the US without proper documentation a federal crime and empower states and counties to turn police into immigration agents.
