Immigrants Boost Portland`s Economy in Proportion to Their Numbers, Study Finds

Immigrants constitute 13 percent of professional specialists such as doctors and lawyers and 13.8 percent of technicians in areas such as health care, engineering and science.

(SILVERTON, Ore.) - Hispanic workers power west coast agriculture As is the case throughout the nation's largest cities, immigrants contribute to Portland's economy roughly in proportion to their share of the population, according to a study released today by the Fiscal Policy Institute.

"The study should be required reading for all Oregonians, as it makes clear just how much of the economic growth of the state's largest metropolitan area is due to immigrants," said Joy Margheim, policy analyst with the Oregon Center for Public Policy, who examined the Fiscal Policy Institute's study.

The group claims that last Saturday, "Che Guevara supporters with a radical pro-amnesty coalition viciously attacked and bludgeoned tea party protesters at a Florida anti-illegal-immigration rally."

4-Day Old Baby Kidnapped by Man Posing as Immigration Official

A brand new infant is taken by an unidentified white female adult driving a police-type car.

(NASHVILLE, Ore.) - Yair Anthony Carrillo a 4-day old Hispanic male black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue and white striped onesie The State of Tennessee issued an Amber Alert Tuesday afternoon after a child was abducted in Nashville. Police say the suspect posed as an immigration worker.

A news release stated, "The suspect demanded that the child's mother turn over the child and when she refused the suspect stabbed the child's mother approximately eight times. The mother survived but the suspect was able to leave with the child."

Over 100 Atttend Immigration Reform Rally in Bend

Immigration advocates say they want to see a sufficient number of visas allocated to close unlawful migration channels and thereby strengthen border security.

(BEND, Ore.) - Billboard depicting Hispanic farmworkers Today over a hundred supporters of Immigration Reform joined CAUSA, Central Oregon Jobs with Justice and Recursos Para Derechos Humanos at a rally in Bend to call on Congressman Walden to support Comprehensive Immigration Reform legislation this year.

The rally took place during the Central Oregon town hall style TV show "Talk of the Town".

Immigration Reform: Will Walden Be On Board? (AUDIO)

A rally is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. today at Cascades Theatrical Company in Bend.

(BEND, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Oregon 2nd District Congressman Greg Walden will be greeted - and perhaps grilled - today in Bend by a coalition of groups who think he should be doing more to support immigration reform.

His Web site does not mention immigration as an issue, and the Republican has been strictly conservative on that front, voting to build a wall along the southern U.S. border.

Willamette Tree Wholesale Nursery in Oregon Sued for Sexual Harassment, Retaliation

Latina Workers at an Oregon Nursery were Sexually Harassed, Threatened, and One Woman Repeatedly Raped, Federal Agency Charges.

(SEATTLE) - Migrant workers Willamette Tree Wholesale, a nursery in Molalla, Oregon has been sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for violating federal law.

The U.S. EEOC charged in a lawsuit filed today, that the nursery allowed female employees to be severely sexually harassed and retaliated against the women and male co-workers after they reported the harassment.

This is the agency's third such case against Oregon agricultural employers.
