Honduran Man Faces Sentencing for Heroin Trafficking Tied to Death of Young Oregon Resident

The suspect had entered the U.S. illegally, prior to the alleged crime.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Judge's gavel On July 8, 2010, Antonio Cruz, an illegal alien from Honduras, is going to be sentenced for his involvement in trafficking heroin into Portland, Oregon.

Cruz has been traced back as the supplier for the black tar heroin that killed 21-year-old Kyle Whipps, a Sisters, OR resident visiting Portland for a series of concerts in September 2008.

Groups to Protest ICE Program that Divides Families and Threatens Community Security

March and Rally calls for end to ICE program that divides families, it happens today at 4:30 p.m.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Immigration rally CAUSA Oregon will conduct a joint demonstration with Rural Organizing Project (ROP) and SEIU Local 503 OPEU outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office in Portland. During a march and rally, members of the groups will call for an end to a program that threatens community safety and security.

Started in October 2008, "Secure Communities" is a national immigration program that targets non-citizens who are arrested by the police.

At 23, Walter was nabbed by federal authorities and held in a detention facility for nearly three weeks. Now he faces deportation.
